I recall that this is from a US manufacturer. Is there a dealer/distributor in Germany or else in Europe which can supply the 517 trans TC and body valve?

I don't think any of the US guys have a dealer or similar over here.

My box is in transit to 517 right now - I daren't think how complex that could be from Norway!

If it's just a TC you need then I'd think about finding one in the US, shipping to 517 or Ace, and then shipping over here. You'll have to pay the VAT (Moms) and import duty, but it would still probably be the easiest way.

Got it. That will be a challange since i need to drive the car to Germany and would not be able to remove the TC before the car is at the shopin Germany. I would image that the turnover time required for shipping and mods in thebus would extend the stay in germany signaficantly. I plan to have the car at the Shop for 14 days (flying back and down again to pick it up).

Does 517trans offer donor service where they send you an upgraded version of TC and valve body and then you return the used TC and valve body when out of car?

I don't think so (but you could always give Sam a call there (say Hi from me!) (www.517trans.com).

However if you look on rs6.com there are quite often guys with donor TC's etc willing to sell etc.

Update.

Car is now in Germany for repair. Following is currently being done:

1. Change both head gaskets. Cylinder head has been removed and tested for cracks. Seems to be ok. Full overhaul of both cylinder heads have been done. Small droplets of water was seen during disassembling cylinder heads.

2. Both cam chain tensioners have been replaced to cure cold start rattle.

3. Installing TC and VB from 517trans. Currently in transfer from USA. Was lucky to find a donor TC and VB in New York. Sam at 517 trans was very helpful and arranged with purchase of donors. So far the service has been superb. Looking forward to see the result on shifting times and power delvery.

4. Installing full Millek non res catback. To my suprise the milltek was cheaper in Norway than in Germany.

5. Removing pre cats.

6. During engine pull we discovred that the famous OEM inter coolers was leaking. Got a good deal on Wagners and is installing them.

7. During engine pull it was discovered that the N75 valves was bad. Replaced with new ones.

8. EGT and lambds changed

9. Changed out the MTM bimoto rims with BBS CH-R. Many good deals on ebay.de!

10. Changed timing belt and belongings

11. Changing some of the control arms. Only 8 months since i changed them last time! Could it be that coilovers and H-Sport ARB is giving them a hard time?

Picking up the car on the 8th of September. Looking forward to it :)

Next step is to upgrade the ABT mapping. Looking for a MAP which give me more torque than the ABT mapping. According to 517trans the gearbox is able to handle 800 Nm with the upgraded TC. Anyone which have contact info to a very good custom mapping firm in northen Germany?

Big list. Gonna hurt your wallet.

Did you ask Carsten about a tuner? I'm sure I remember him recommending me someone in Essen.

Good luck with the rest!

After some investigation and asking around everybody was pointing in the direction of an tuner in Berlin. One man company called tunetec.de. Apperantly a well liked and knowlegble guy when it comes to custom tuning. Booked appointment with him on my way back home from Köln.

Picked up the car this week in Germany. The car is transformed, ormore correctly, it is how it should be.

Most importantly, the change of head gasket has cured the rough idle cold startup and change of cam chain tensioner has cured the cold start rattle.

The gutted pre cats, milltek and custom mapping has significantly improved the engines characteristic. It feels more progressive, acceleration has significabtly improved. This is also due to new N75 valves and a fixed boots leak.

Overall i am very satisfied with the work done by Michael Von Hoegen.
