It is a lot nicer than the Pre-2010 version, Nick let me have a play with his RNS E. Shop, there is one on eBay for £389 or best offer with £20 delivery, the rest on there are around the £400ish mark. But you'll need a C5 RNS E faceplate too as they are A3 units, if you can buy a faulty C5 unit for the faceplate and then a 2010 A3 unit for the screen and guts. That would be ideal.

It goes under that plastic section bit where the interior lights are.

That's where I have seen them before. Looks toss in my opinion. I know mine is visible but it looks better than the mess I have seen.

I will ask Nigel what his plan would be for the mic setup but after tearing out the old kit and hiding all the wires/mic away, I am not having any visible mic nonsense foo.....

The ones I have seen have been put behind the light unit but had left a big sh1t mark.

The mic install would have to be perfect and invisible, otherwise no dice chief. Nigel was an utter perfectionist so I will be very surprised if it is something that I wouldn't like but I will let you know.

Why not use the OE mic in the interior light console? Invisible.

And if your car had a phone prep then the mic will already be there and you can tap into the wires under the trim next to the handbrake.

The "phone prep" turned out to be an aftermarket Nokia job Shopp. I didn't even remember the make of the phone as I tore it all out the day that I got the car pretty much and hid what I couldn't remove easily. Original buyer was too cheap for OE phone prep as well as electric windows it seems.

I will need an interior light front trim panel for the OE mic, which is exactly what I am about to go looking for.

Mine had a mickey mouse Nokia phone kit but still had the mic in the roof console which I use for Bluetooth and sds. Might be worth having a look Nick before you splash out.

95% certain that it isn't there Bilko but I will have another look thanks. This Nokia Job was an external mic jobbie that was velcro'd to the roof trim panel, made me squeal like a little pigy when I looked at it. How are you doing the SDS by the way? As in button.

You can do SDS if you revert to the four spoke steering. *shudder*
