Not a lot at the moment. I've been very busy. I had silencers put on with a switch back to straight pipes for when I want a bit of noise. There's a gearbox issue even after a full rebuild so I'm looking at options for that before I'd dare put it back into MRC for the Wagners, Water Meth and final mapping. it'd lunch the 'box in no time.

Ship the car to Tozo in the US and get him to sort the box (ideally - manual), think its about £500 each way, then take an East to West coast drive from route 66 when done, taking advantage of the dirt cheap fuel and awesome scenery for photos. Its what I planned to do, I'm serious (mad) too.

Errrrm, £500 each way? If I could ship the gearbox £500 each way I'd have put it into IPT or Level10 by now for a bombproof build... still what I'm thinking anyways.

Well I'm sure I've seen it that cheap to ship the whole car, I could try and find out more details if you like. There is a guy that ships old 911s from California to the UK for around £500 or less.

<beep> about the gearbox bam :audibash: . Take it the engine is running sweet though after the mod's, even if not on full warp speed map?

I regularly send containers to North America and they are MUUUUUUUCH more expensive than that. You can get 2 cars in a 40ft and it will probably cost you between £2 and £3k each way including road transport.

Nope, it's only one way traffic for me. Got contacts there though. Don't think a container is the way forward unless you are bringing a lot of stuff back. If you can get them on a pallette / palletised box then you can use a mutualised container and let the shipping agent sort it out. I have shipped stuff on fairly large pallets before. Not too bad. Also, I have had surprisingly good rates with Fedex if you have an account and negociated rates. PM if you want more info.

Yeah, it's about £2.5 - £3k to send a car to Oz. I think it'd be cheaper to ship Tozo out here, chain him into a workshop (I'll convert my sex dungeon) and then line all our cars up for the "Tozo bombproof gearbox treatment".
I'll organise it; there will be one of three boxes to tick on the order form.
  • [ ] I would like my OEM gearbox bombproofed
    [ ] I would like a manual conversion
[ ] I'll have a go on that curvy redhead chained up in the corner (just think Christina Hendricks wrapped in PVC)
My paypal details are to follow very soon. I'm just posting a bounty for Tozo to be delivered to the UK, alive, of course.
Can someone start a groupbuy?

I am convinced that many problems with repaired boxes come from the garage using internals from the standard 5HP24A and not the modified version for the RS6 with the reinforced bits.

If I were to do my gearbox, I think I would buy a new one from Audi / ZF put in an ACE TC and level 10 valve body.

Although having said that, I have still not come across any amazingly positive reviews of the ACE TC.

I think the A.C.E needs a good 'box and positive shift from the VB. That said, why not get it all matched together by the one rebuild outfit. I get the feeling the A.C.E TC is a bit binary and could do with a slightly higher stall speed to feel OEM.
