I managed to get the car onto the 4 wheel alignment ramp finally and it checks out spot on :)

Before I bought the RS6, I was considering buying a C6 A6 3.0TDi Avant and spotted these 19s cheap so snapped them up.

Now that I have the RS6, I'll use them as winter wheels. I just need some spacers and bolts now.

Great stuff. I hadn't realised you were nearly there and was going to offer to help as your not far from me.

Ofcourse I'm no expert, but let me know if you need a hand with the heavy stuff in the future.

I'll try to clean them out this week if I get a chance.

This weekend has been constructive.

I managed to change the exhaust temp sensor with the engine/trans in situ.

Removing the bracket that hold the loom gives just enough room to slip your right hand down and get a short spanner onto it to loosen and finger tips etc.

Also, despite having changed the secondary air pump and one of the valves, the system was still flagging up faults and I hadn't heard it running. It turned out that the fuse had blown. I robbed one from the loom from my S8 engine and it fired straight up :)

A quick clear of codes and I'll see how the car drives this week.

Next bits are the tailgate switch and passenger door latch.

Get it mapped out, it's superfluous anyways.

While I've got a full stock car that's being driven 200-300 miles a week... it's nice to have it running exactly as Audi intended.

Once I get to the stage of being able to play with it, I'll probably remove some of the cats, remove the secondary air system and get it tuned at the same time.

Good man, but if you'd wanted to have it running as Audi intending, you'd not be running on DRC... oh wait...

Lol... good point. I didn't remove it!

I like the billies but it might ride a lot nicer on DRC ;)

Running update on the car.

I've now had enough time in the car to get to know it's capabilities and started to be able to really push the car, making full use of the power and torque. Maybe it's time for an upgrade 8)

One thing that I'm not happy about now is the suspension ride height.

My car has always been low... much lower than a standard RS6 and I wouldn't be surprised if it's lower than an RS6 Plus too but I don't know for sure as I don't have any figures.

Could I ask for a favour from someone with a stock height RS6 and also an RS6 Plus please? (Must be on 19 inch wheels) could you measure from the bottom of the wheel rim to the bottom of the wheel arch please? This is the most accurate way that I can think of measuring ride heights.

Here's a diagram of the measurement just to be clear.

Mine is currently sitting around 595-598mm all around.

On standard original 19 rims ( 255/35/19 tyres) with stock/original drc suspension
from bottom of the rim , between the tyre and the rim
offside wheel is 61cm , nearside wheel 62cm
measured thru the centreline of the wheel
offside front @ 61cm

Are you sure it's hitting the bump stops and not compressing the springs to the point where the coils are touching (and the spring becoming incompressible)? If it's the latter then raising the suspension will only make it worse.

Thanks for the measurements. I was expecting more of a difference.

Re coil bind... if Bilstein have designed a coil over set (PSS9) that can go into coil bind before the bump stops are active... I think a lot less of them!

Today's jobs will include careful inspection of the front coil overs.

I believe this is the case. My bump stops are in virgin condition.

Hmmm... I got the wheels off today and jet washed everything so that I could see more clearly whats going on.

I can't see any bump stops but then, I can't see where they'd fit either.

I'd expect that the bump stop must be inside the strut but it sounds like you can see yours?

Could you post a pic please?

These are the same as mine.
