I'd like to know that...I can't imagine many special tools being needed for the removal of such a large component.....so if it's technically possible why isn't it done more often?
Have to admit having looked at the car from the bottom I have no idea how they're doing it.

Little update on the transmission removal without dropping the engine out..
Bill, I was at my mechanics last week, he was swapping a tranny, the engine cradle was lowered, not removed, shocks and control arms attached to cradle were also removed from body, he had 2 tranverse bars holding engine, engine mounts removed, he did not remove turbos, he angled engine down enough to remove tranny....ask pat or tozo they can describe in more detail
