600 brake would be fine, I am more concerned about turning the torque up to stupid levels after witnessing the acceleration difference on the cupra. I am not north of 150 "all" ;) that often so the desire for on the move punch is is far more important but I wouldn't bombproof the box without also doing the rest engine-wise. Amar, I would bet the house (that I don't have) on your car and mine being no faster than each other as is currently anyway, but I won't drag strip the sh!t out of mine to find out ;)

BUT, I can just buy something far more fun and make it a lot faster, for less money and it probably won't eat everything every other week. Think I will be building up a pimping/extra car fund for the end of the year and give myself another chrimbo pressie like I did last year with this car and the MRC stuff.

If it helps with the bird/wife/ new house/kid thing. I sold up the B7 and went "sensible" for 12 months recently and Im a lot older than you! Did the all the mentioned then went back to being a kid and bought all new toys again when the dust settled! If its in your blood thats it. The key is compromise... but only for a bit then she has to chew it up and accept things for what they are! :thumbs: The Cupra sounds the mutts Ive always fancied one of those.

Mev, unless I am having one of my many goldfish brain moments and promised them to someone else, you will have first refusal on them. Honestly, the indicators are that bad compared to the rest of the cluster.

I had a MK5 GTI race me on the way to Inters, I put my foot down as hard as it would go, my car was performing faultlessly, and guess what? I couldn’t get away from the git. We then both came off a slip road and went on to join another motorway, on this run we had, he had traction issues in the wet (being front wheel drive) so I was laughing, accelerating hard, look in my mirror a few seconds later, and he is gaining on me, and then I’m holding him up again! It made me feel better as we spoke later and he told me he had done a lot of engine work including upgraded turbos so it wasn’t your average Golf. Point is, the VAG 4 pot is quite capable as you’ve just found out. The last S3 started off with 265 BHP from factory iirc, so I bet that would tune and go very well. Buy an S3 over another Cupra if you do go down that route, that way you’ll have more power to start with along with traction (quattro albeit haldex) to get it down, only thing you’ll loose is the V8 noise.

You'd still need all the supporting mods. Still, I don't see how they're 'good' for 650. My TD650s are apparently 'good' for the same number and don't differ from the Loba LO650 (LO600v2 with enlarged intakes - they also make a LO700 but I think this is for the B5).

The only bottlenecks I have left would be:
- Airbox (I'm not convinced it's that restrictive)
- Timing (a set of Loba cams would assist in this area but I'm not so sure these will make up any more than 20hp)
- K24/TTRS compressor wheels (I'm not sure how much more this will give up)
The problem isn't air-intake with my setup, it's the getting all the spent air out, even with the tubular manifolds and full CATless exhaust it just can't extract more. Are there any thoughts on the Milltek 2.75" downpipes? Could these be that restrictive, if at all?

So, unless someone can point out something I've missed, that leaves us with the hotsides, which upon scrutiny are on the small side (for a V8). Ditch the K04s in favour of GT30s and all of a sudden there's an increased exhaust capacity (but these won't fit with a 5HP24 in situ - apparently). Paul's 778PS is mind boggling, however, it is 'only' running 864Nm and that's only 11Nm more than I have. That said, his car would be a very different beast to drive on manual shift and wastegates... oh, and the extra 173PS top-end :shock:

Why do they always make them so fussy? If it wasn't for that oval bit at the bottom it wouldn't look too bad.
