See, told ya. He didn't use brakes on his last anus twitcher, he probably won't need them on his next one. Besides, I haven't rolled my arches and this new solution will bring the front wheels in 10-15mm. We'll send 31cm a postcard as rule 1 when finished. J-hooks or grooves? Start a poll, I like the idea of j-hookers on my 390s, 8kgs versus 12kgs is pretty sweet too!

Grooves, I think. Not a big fan of J-hooks. Makes the disk look like a stampede of tiny horses ran over them.

Hadn't thought about them bringing the wheels in. Spacers should sort that out if necessary.

*ponders* how easy is it to unroll arches?

No idea but I would have no interest in doing that at least. Arch Enemy's roll job is 100% invisible from the outside and doesnt affect the car in any way. Anyway, regarding the brakes, as I think I said somewhere on here, all the fun money is going in to modifying the R at the moment.

Shop, I guess you were right.

/EDIT I meant this new carrier and disc would bring my front wheels in-bound 10-15mm because I'd lose the spacer behind the hat, that's a good thing.

Nick get the slightly longer one like i did, reception is fine. Tell your missus it might be shorter but it has more girth and 2 tons behind it :bigblink:
Bilko, which aerial did you have then? I ordered an 8" one from ebay but it had a smaller thread.

Right, I am at a bit of a crossroads with this car.......

I lover her to bits but the latest edition to the household has really thrown the cat among the pigeons for me. I have been waffling on recently about the 2004 Seat Leon Cupra R 225 that I bought for the other half as I bought a really good condition one and while I found it to be slow for my tastes, it was great fun to chuck around. The worst part was that when approaching a ton, it started running out of puff too quickly for my liking. Well, 1 full Milltek turbo back system with sport cat, Badger 5 throttle intake pipe, BMC cone filter/Heatshield and MRC remap later and I am totally and utterly obsessed with this car now.

MRC got a "conservatively" mapped 274hp/314ftlbs torque out of her iirc and the difference is utterly astonishing. As I posted on Fartbook, "utterly mental, like a Jack Russell that has just snorted a couple of baggies, I am quite smitten". Pin sharp handling, stupendous acceleration compared to before, charges past 100 at the drop of a hat in 5th/6th and with housemate driving mine (can't use tiptronic though) and me in the R, he couldn't close the gap on me at all on the "Private Runway" when we were both giving it the beans from about 70-140 . The torque has transformed the acceleration, totally night & day difference. madam is now terrified of driving it in anything other than bone dry weather (she cried and was shaken when she drove the car home in the partial wet from MRC lol), whereas I will take it out 9 times out of 10 over the 6 and grin like a loon while spinning up the wheels all over the shop in the wet and dry and flying off at the rate of knots. I am proud to say that I am getting just under 15mpg in it currently. I am pretty sure that in a rolling start race, there would be nothing in between our 2 cars now until we are north of 140 or so, can't believe it really.

This is my predicament. I LOVE the 6 to bits BUT, I have to sort the following things now, especially based on how stupidly capable the Cupra is post-MRC:

I need to bulletproof the gearbox so I can ramp the torque up heavily as this beast can't get schooled by the lesser car in the household, which cost peanuts in comparison.

I need to get this beatch up to the 600 brake mark which is what I wanted to settle on ideally but like the gearbox, I am going to need to sell a kidney quite possibly

I need to rip out the whole front brake setup and put something better in. The XP10 pads are just great, I cannot fault their performance at all BUT, I have managed to boil the brake fluid no less than 5 times now (still on the OE stuff put in by MRC, my fault there) have had the pads smoking now more times than I can remember and the deal breaker is the noise when braking at low speed/traffic/urban. Everybody around the car grimaces and looks at me like I am a pikey that has no brakes etc. Can't put up with it any more.

I need to get rid of the smoked Dectane clusters as NOBODY can see me indicating! I get flashed constantly when I have indicated to pull in, everybody following me complains that all of a sudden I turn off etc as they can't see the indicators. I still want smoked clusters but sadly these have to die. I know a few on here have them and have no complaints but to be perfectly honest, either you guys don't indicate or are in denial ;)

-------------------------------

That just about covers it. The main thing is that I am 34 and have a long term girlfriend that is desperate for us to buy our own house and for me to stick a baby up her. I am basically a giant manchild and find it near-impossible to not buy my toys instead of getting totally and utterly raped on the house ladder. Also, I am thinking that for close to the price of just bombproofing just the gearbox, I could get an entire other Cupra R, do the same mods to it but also bulletproof the engine, stick a bigger turbo on and make an even nuttier one as a daily driver (not that I drive more than once/twice a week normally....) for a few quid more.

What to do, what to do..........

Can't do it, I wouldn't want a manual estate. I am not talking about selling the 6, not currently anyway, just not sure what direction to go in as the Leon has opened my eyes and reminded me what what small car hoonery is like.

That bit is important. Stick the biggest turbos as you want on, without the uprated manifold, it won't be any quicker than mine. Problem is, where to get them? Someone said MRC do not sell these anymore...

I dunno if you'll get past 600hp on hybrids, you'll be needing GTs for that, and in typical "why is it always so effing hard?" - GTs won't fit with a slush box.
