Re: RS 51X CS,daytona avant
The vr6 conversion persuaded me tbh
Re: RS 51X CS,daytona avant
Suddenly it makes a lot more sense.

Re: RS 51X CS,daytona avant
5 stud conversion which I'm hoping has been done with the donor cars rear beam,280mm vr6 brakes, powerflow exhaust and coilovers already on. Hopefully it does have a golf rear beam as the estates beam is different and you cant get coilovers easily or with much choice. I'll probably upgrade the coilovers and its already booked in to get the engine lifted as VR sumps are horrendously low but other than new coils and wheels it's just for work and the dogs and for those occasions when you need the space off an estate but whatevers got to go in wouldn't get within a mile of the RS6
rule one :-
pdg'd,prepped and clean wiped

and into primer

that was thursday there and its had a slow bake since and its getting left for 48 hours before anymore paint goes on

Do you mind me asking how much you're paying for the paint job please?

I know I'll be in a minority but I really like the primer colour for an actual top coat paint colour, like a Satin gun metal grey.

Re: RS 51X CS,daytona avant
It initially started at 3k but then I added archwork, had to get a new front bumper, decided to renew all the windows trim, I'm getting the full chrome trim done in gloss black, I'm getting all the galvanised trim clips replaced and I'm getting a new windscreen. Final cost I'm not sure off yet being absolutely honestlongman h wrote:Do you mind me asking how much you're paying for the paint job please?

Re: RS 51X CS,daytona avant
Looks very much like a top coat to me . 2 coats of lacquer and its good to go

Re: RS 51X CS,daytona avant
Is it realistic to expect a finish as good as, or superior to, factory finish when new?

Hard to tell daz, have your front arches been rolled taking out the standard line?

Re: RS 51X CS,daytona avant
He had a lot of problems with the fronts which was one of the hold ups but they've not got a substantial lip anyway. They're only rolled returns with a slight pull though and not flared.
As for the final finish though I've got good expectations.
Ahooga it's definitely just a black primer lol. It needs that as a base to ensure the daytona looks proper. A grey undercoat would affect the end colour.

And Carl if you look at the top pic of the front left in pre-primer you can see the line is still there although the black makes it almost dissappear

Aye, my eyes aren't the best and was difficult to tell with the colour
