Noticing a distinct lack of care about the xenon upgrade ;). Lost interest in them Ben? Starting to wonder why I bothered too but at £220 all in, hardly the end of the world and wouldn't have bought much with that.

Interesting comparison pics - especially the 4th and 5th. With the standard beam you can barely see the telegraph pole on the right in the distance - with the HID it is clearly visible.

Have to admit that I have never been a great fan of the standard lights, especially given how quickly one can approach that unseen pole!

Might just have to go down this route.....

Certainly less conspicuous than the banks of extra lamps I used to have on the SAAB and the RS2000 years ago! Main issue there was remembering to take off the plastic covers before you turned them on - or else they rapidly melted!

So this is a direct comparison between the halogen and the HID? I'm not seeing much more range with the HID. Is it just the photo?

Yep, direct comparison. That was the only fixed point that I took a halogen comparision shot so couldn't do the same for the other 2 places. I am not that impressed either tbh but for £100 if you do it yourself they might be worth a punt. You get an awful lot of lens-related markings in the light pattern if you get me. The shot was taken from the exact same spot, same ISO etc etc.

Not sure I agree - I think you are being hard on the new set up - take a look at the pictures full screen

Aside from the telegraph pole on the right (the second one, not the first), the tree on the left in the distance is substantially clearer in the second shot. Seems to me the middle distance is quite a bit brighter too.

I agree the lense pattern is more obvious, but isn't that a natural consequence of the brighter light?

I love the Hids I have in the a4, they're only the 35w sets, and I also upgraded my allroad ones to the 50w sets, and it was a vast improvement.

I also read a publication where they done testing and it proved that the Hids give less stress on the eyes. I used to do a lot of night driving and I reckon they're right!

It's worth every penny in my opinion. Look good nic!

Ok chaps, update.

Took madam out tonight and had her drive so she could have her own opinion. Went down a few unlit A roads and the results were a fair bit better. Much wider field of vision and good range. Lens patters are still a little irritating and you can get a fair bit of glare off signs but still. Worth a punt guys.

Footlong, have you considered doing the lights in the rear Ashtrays. When cleaning mine the other day I left one open by mistake and it casts a really nice shade of classy red light over the door card. I leave both open now.

No, not at all. Footlong has changed most of the LED lights. One of my ashtray lights is really dim compared to the other so I was wandering if Footlong had done them as If I needed to order a new one, I may aswell just upgrade both. A friend of mine has a new Audi where the door cards have a shade of light shone on them and it looks great, this creates an identical effect.
