I wasn't complaining about how much I had spent so far. Amar asked and I worked it out roughly. I still think 15k in less than 90 days, not including insurance, fuel or buying her is pretty good going thanks and I haven't stopped yet. Because when I bought my Final STI5, she was a pretty well immaculate, factory spec STI, nice and fluffy. Unlike this bastard car, I could work on those so over 3 years I tore her apart, customized the vast majority of her and turned her in to a 492/473 fire breathing monster, while retaining all of the normal refinements, as well as a sub-1200kg chassis. I would probably still have her and be over the moon if I hadn't sold her to help the ex out with financial problems. Called off the engagement and split up with her less than a month after selling Fluffyamanda1 wrote:but how can you call a car fluffy??????

. Key things were that she was enlarged to 2.2l, strengthened Omega internals, ARP head studs, Garrett GT35R rotated turbo setup, fully customized (as in the best part of a weekend precision grinding the caliper mounts alone) Wilwood 6/4 pot brake upgrade, reverse flowed fuelling, strengthened gearset, usual fuelling upgrades, bespoke 100 Cell CAT. That just about scratches the surface
Yes yes, running all that off a Hyperflow uprated TMIC as the Garrett combined with an FMIC was laaaag city.

Never really been a scooby fan but she looks good! I used to love my 200sx, 300zx tt but most of all the first jap car I had was my favourite - mk2 Honda prelude vtec, saw one the other day and still think they look great!
As for the rs6 I bought mine from a garage without getting it checked out - buy cheap pay twice as they say... I have spend a similar amount on mine just fixing the previous poor work carried out on it! She is almost as good as she can be...time to start modding (upgrading) properly!!

Looked at your pics, the TMIC looks about the size of one of the wagners that this thread was started about!!!Mr Footlong wrote:http://www.ftaclan.net/clanftp/nick/sco ... /index.htm - Doesn't show specs, those are in my Facebook album lol. Notice you heat rapped some of the exhaust, did you ever consider having it ceramic coated instead?

Re: Wagners, do I need them in my life right now???
That TMIC was very deep, far deeper than the original STI one, to the point where is stood out above some of the bonnet. I spent a lot of time cutting/flattening the shroud to allow the bonnet to shut properly and still allow some movement of the intercooler while maintaining a seal. Can't remember the figures not but if memory serves is had close to twice the cooling capacity of the original, could be wrong on that though.
Regarding the cat/downpipe, I did consider ceramic coating but I personally I think that the really well (if I do say so myself) double DEI heatwrap job actually did a better job of dropping the under bonnet temps and keeping the cat hot than ceramic coating would have done. I could go for a really hard run, open up the bonnet and quite happily put my hands around the downpipe, albeit not for too long of course but I just doubt standard ceramic coating would have deflected the same amount of heat. This isn't talking from experience though.

2.The rear wing (much prefer it without or the spec D wings on the later models)

Re: Wagners, do I need them in my life right now???
Thanks but the fact is that I like to stand out from the crowd, but tastefully wherever possible (that is the hardest thing about owning a black, Audi, estate, not exactly rare
). I took the big STI logos off the mudflaps when I got them because they were over the top but I would have never, ever got rid of the Sticker on the back as people didn't buy the full fat sti's to blend in did they?
. Same goes for the rear wing for me and I can't complain as that is the factory one. Christ I miss that car soooooo much. I could only dream of still owning both her and the RS6. C'est la vie. The one thing I never got around to doing was a detail on the bodywork, was swirl city a tad.

Re: Wagners, do I need them in my life right now???
I had heat wrap on my golf mk2 20vt downpipe, which as you say I could touch after a hard run. Just got the dp back from being ceramic coated, have been told it is more efficient than the wrap. I will report back after it has been thrashed properly and I convince one of my mates to touch it before I do!

Re: Wagners, do I need them in my life right now???
I was going to do the same DEI heatwrap job on the RS6 but I was advised that it would be risky as if the heatwrap got wet when the pipes were hot it could cause problems and also Milltek wouldn't honour the warrany but in hindsight, if I could do it again I would certainly go with my gut and wrap them just down to the point where the pipes go horizontal, which would totally minimize the water issue imo and I don't give a tinker's whatsit about radiated heat once it is under the car and not inside the engine bay. I may investigate ceramic coating again too.
If/more likely when I go the way of Luke and have the engine yanked to upgrade furtherI will most likely get the old boiler suit out, marigolds, buckets of water, ss lockwire and a ton of DEI heatwrap and go in to a corner at MRC for a few hours and wrap them for the guys, unless I get a really good reason for a flaw in my logic with this particular car. The worst one was lockwiring the brake discs, took soo long for such a silly little job due to no room to work between the bolts..
