Those scratches look deep...although machine polishing is going to help, it looks like a respray job to me. First step would be to do paint correction and slather is with wax love and see whether you can live with it...

Was always bored with my standard leather seats and lusted after hi-techs etc. I now realise that I frankly have an easy maintainance job when it comes to the interior...

Thats the plan... Using my rotary with a fairly aggressive cutting pad and some Menzerna power gloss. I'm going to end up doing the whole car whilst I'm at it probably (not all with that pad and power gloss though)!
It's going to look epic. :jump:

On Saturday, I dealt with the engine bay. With the help of cotton ear buds, brushes, cloths some G101 all purpose cleaner and some aerospace 303 protectant. I forgot to take a before picture, but it looked like this.

I ended up with this ( I later cleaned the outside section of the engine too, but haven't got an updated picture)
Ignore the ripped sofa, it was it's final resting place before the tip, my dad was going to take it in the RS, but he left it out and it's too dirty now so isn't allowed in it...!

Decided to test out my new rotary, moving on from my G220. I only did half the bonnet. The process was...

Menz IP on a CYC mild cutting pad
Then Megs show car glaze on a finishing pad
Dodo Juice rainforest rub wax
Zaino Z8
Of course, I washed and clayed beforehand too. Next weekend, I'm doing the whole car.

First, I quickly and rather carelessly masked 'er up.

Image

I'm pleased with the correction I got. It's hard to pick up with the camera though.

Image

The interior looks awesome in the flesh, originally, it was the only thing I wasn't sure about. But after I spent a few hours on it, it looks awesome. The camera just doesn't pick up how good it looks in the flesh. As the car only has 36k miles, it still has the new car smell. Which is further enhanced by my use of Gliptone on the leather and leather air fresheners under two seats.

Image

G101 really is all purpose...

This is just a shot of her showing off before I put her away for the week, she won't be started until Saturday when I start the proper detail.

I thought so too! If someone can get me a part number, I'll get some ordered next month. I really want them!

8D1 723 173A - Al brake pedal pad
4B7 723 523 - Al accel pedal complete (with electronic)
4B1 864 777B - 4P7 (stainless steel) - Footrest

BUT it looks like the RHD plusses didn't have aluminium pedals so all those part numbers are for LHD cars. I suspect you can adapt the brake and accelerator pedal without too much difficulty, but the foot rest I think will be a different story.

Thanks for the part numbers, may have to go for VW Phaeton ones instead to get past the LHD issue.

The insurance company are okay with mods :jump:

That was my biggest concern. I'll get one of the below done whilst it's having it's service and belts. Which would you go for?

1. Remap ECU and TCU (Viper/MRC) only 20 more BHP, but I'll also get a lot more torques. My car currently dyno'd with 676nm as is!
2. Milltek and a free 10k service at Unit 20 (the plus exhaust isn't bad)
3. Hotchkins ARBs (having a BMW daily driver, the steering feel and turn in isn't as crisp as I'd like it)

Need to get the vibrating peddles sorted too, I won't be able to put up with them.

I didn't think you'd be allowed to drive it? How do you know about the turn in?

Option 2 all day long from me, best value. Besides, in 'plus' trim it's more than enough power while you're getting used to it.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Two votes for a milly then. I drove it back from Great Yarmouth. The problem isn't getting insured, it's getting insured comp, which will happen on the 6th Nov..! I drove back with third party cover... Yikes, never again.
I didn't really push it, in fact, I only used 1/4 tank of fuel on the 172 mile journey!
