Er, so effectively I'm right up <beep> creek without a paddle!

At least I'm in the position where I've had the car from 9k miles. So I'll know that services have been done, gearbox fluid changes have been done and the coilovers were done under warranty and hopefully minimise the chances of stuff going wrong.

Here's praying...

Just spoke to INCHAPE the warranty can be put on any car which passes a multi point inspection
it has to be done by a Inchape retailer aswell

Looking at the booklet it matches the Audi warranty, but will not cover the DRC system, they confirmed that to me on the phone

Labour rate, they speak to the repairing dealer about this

They send an inspector out to 10% of all claims made.

It is the £1k saving i am thinking about now!!

Well im foooked Swindon Audi rang up and asked the same question they said no i could not have the warranty, you can only apply for the warranty upon purchase of second hand car or new, if a car is out of Audi warranty and you go to purchase this they will not give it, tell me have you got the contact number for Inchcape as i only can find there claims numbers i have there booklet but no contact numbers.

Just swell isn't it?

Just have to use that 850 quid for a relaxing holiday instead - to prepare me for the failure costs that'll be inevitable one day..

Until then, I like to think I have a Monday car and not a Friday one.. :)

THe plan covers for suspecsion and does not appear to exclude the DRC. Here's the policy document

I called up and asked there claims dept and they called me back to confirm they will not cover a leaking shock of any type under the plan b cover

Anyway spent some more of my life chasing this warranty

So straight from the horses mouth today was

I can have the warranty as long as I take to one of the INCHCAPE dealers
as they will only supply the dealer if they in turn get my service work and warranty work

he said to me they canceld a policy as the policy holder had the vehcile serviced else where

It is in the terms and condtions of the selling dealer

so looks like Audi are getting their ££££ monday morning

did look at warranty wise but I have dealt with them and can be a real pain in the arse

East Kent offered me the warranty today. Essentially they said Inchcape will not cover it unless the dealership is familiar with the vehicle, and as East Kent have performed quite a few of the services, I apparently qualify for their continued loving tender care!

They said (not in so many words, probably not wanting to ever be held to ransom) that the DRC would be covered. He exhaled with a smile on his face when I said I ditched it for H&Rs. The box appears to be covered. Another customer had the whole box replaced in April under the Plan B Inchcape warranty, so thats reassuring. Mooch was right when he said that theres a 2k threshold where they'll send out another tech to confirm the stealerships diagnosis.

Its just this whole 'liable for labour costs' thing which is news to me having reread this thread. I'll have to ask about that again in the morning. Multipoint check will be this week, and fingers crossed, they'll offer it to me officially.

OK, guys. Just took my car to Audi in Crawley and they did the multi point check. Provided it passes this, you will be able to get the inchcape warranty. I need to spend quite a bit to get it up to scratch though so I would only go for it if (a) you have just had car serviced (b) it's in top nick as they will ping you for everything that is wrong (arm rest, wipers etc etc even though these items are not covered under the warranty)

I had the check done today too.

They happily offered to me, as the only thing wrong was only one CV boot needed replacement (which isnt covered anyway).

Just to reiterate, the basis upon which they are offering to me is because they have performed most of the the maintenance on this vehicle, and so it meets Inchcape's stipulation on this.

Woohoo now I have warranty! 800 for three years!

I have a couple of little annoying broken bits but they didnt check that closely. My discs also need doing soon. Anyway, none of that stuff is covered. Plus the more they find wrong, the less likely they are to offer the warrenty to you. Which is counter-intuitive as they get commision (plus the revenue itself) for selling it to you.

They must have sensed you're keen, and attempting to exploit you a bit by saying it ALL has to be fixed before they offer the the Inchcape cover. But technically it doesnt.

That's what I said to them. Anyway, asked MRC for a quote on the stuff that needs to be "done" and will see how that compares. I will book it in at Crawley for a service. Although I take a huge hit now in fixing everything, it will give me peace of mind and be more sellable in future (not that I plan to sell!). I love the awesome pace - reminds me, sort of, of my 456GT :nodder: Not quite as pretty though

By the way, the warranty has gone up in price to £1k (certainly what I understand anyway).

1k? I JUST paid just over 800 inc VAT.

Also found out that labour IS included, but at their rate of about £55ph. No guessing what Audi will do when it comes to be reimbursed by Inchcape...

Hope you manage to get it mate. I already feel more relaxed...
