Arrived at unit 20.
Hopefully sort out the oil leaks tomorrow.
All cv boots to be replaced. One failed but going to replace them all.
All Rear parking sensors to be replaced.
Really enjoyable 150 mile trip to Neston
Looking forward to the drive home.

Update 05/09/21. Oil leaks all sorted. No drips on block paved drive. Nice to have pdc fully working. New cv boots gives peace of mind for April next year (MOT)
Amazing drive home.
150 miles return trip. Hit regulation speed and put her into cruise control. The oil temp stayed at a steady 85 oC all the way home.
Happy days.

I've got an oil leak at the moment too. When I put the sump back on after getting it powdercoated, it looks like a little drop of oil dribbled down onto the sealing surface so the silicone hasn't quite done it's job. So I get the odd drop now. Annoying, but can wait until next time I do an oil change.

No. Engine sump.
It's my own fault - I shoulda been a little more patient cleaning the block surface. No biggie.

Ok so leak is nearside again somewhere around the turbo oil drain pipe area. This was recently done (twice).
While at unit 20 the car was in the air with engine running for 40 mins. No evident leakage at all.
Got back home from Neston last Thursday and no leaks until this morning. So has been ok for 5 days.
No blue smoke from exhaust.
Really piss?ng me off.

The oil filter sandwich plate thermostat copper washer that was suspect is clean and dry.
The sandwich plate new seal also looks clean and dry.
Cam cover gaskets appear dry and leak free.

The offside leak now looks to be sorted.
That leaves the nearside leak to get sorted.

At the moment I am at a total loss as to where the hell it is coming from.
Spoke to grizz. He is looking into possibly causes.
Saga continues unfortunately.

Have you got one of those borescope camera thingies? They're about the only thing small enough to go poking it about with.

Thank you for your advice suz.
No I don’t have one.
Back to Neston I think.
What I don’t understand is why it has been dry for 5 days.
Beggars belief.

Could be leaking into or onto something that's catching 5 days worth of drips and then it over flows from there?

I can see the lowest point where the drips drop onto the drive. Tracing the leak back it appears to be the turbo oil drain pipe.
Metal gasket was replaced.first time
Then
O rings were replaced
Metal gasket replaced second time.
The only original part is the pipe itself. That’s if that is where the leak is coming from.

What's right above that? Could be running down the back out of sight and then dripping down the pipe looking like the gasket is leaking. Like a sneaky bastard.

That’s the issue suz.
Turbo oil in pipe. Thats pressured so would expect a lot more oil leaking.
Turbo oil drain pipe- done twice.
Cam cover seals. Cleaned and inspected. Appear to be dry.
Crankshaft oil seal below leak ?
Oil pipes ?
Oil coolers below leak ?
Oil pump is below where the leakage is.
Just waiting on advice at the moment.

Well Steve it looks like when mines in for the F125 switch being fixed, I’ve no chance with getting the oil problem sorted first time round 👍

Hi Barry. Don’t be put off by my bad luck.
This will get sorted eventually.
Just have to locate the exact problem. May have been several leaks. And we are just working our way through them.
I am calming down a bit as time passes.
One hour ago I wanted to set fire to her.
She is testing my resolve and I am not renowned for having a lot of patience.
Just got to work through it one by one.
Though it is proving to be very expensive.
And my wife is going ballistic which doesn’t help.
Ps it could be a lot worse.
I could be driving a Fiat 500 ?
It’s just a pain at the moment as she really is looking and driving beautifully.
Just got to stay positive and treat it like any other fault finding exercise.
