Ok, pads fitted this morning. Haven't got time to go and bed them in yet but in "just slapped on" form where they haven't mated to the discs yet, they already bite noticeably better than the Mintex that were fully bedded in and they do seem to go bite, bite, BITE BITE BITE as soon as any form of heat gets in to them, the total opposite of the Mintex. No squeeling at all so far and that is without shims either. I have some brake judder currently but again, not mated to the discs yet/bedded in.

I think I need to take the front wheels off and check that they are fitted perfectly as she was a little wobbly when well in to warp speed when going around sweeping right hand bends (didn't get to try any sweeping lefts) on the Dual Carriageway and the wheels could have possibly been swapped around but I will sort that one way or another.

Boss mechanic that did the pads couldn't believe it when I told him that I had done well under 2k miles on the Mintex, he said they looked nicely battered and I had managed to put a decent-sized crack through one as well as crack all the other pads :D. He said no way should those be recommended for use on a RS6.

Hopefully this weekend I will get the time to go off late night and do the bedding in process properly and sort out the high speed turn wobble too.

Give 'em a proper thrashing and let us know what you think. Shame you can't do a direct compare with the pagids. Maybe I should send you your old ones back for a back to back comparison?

Sorry dude but I just don't have the inclination to be swapping the pads out really :(. Once these are all bedded in, they will be stuck in there until either they die or the discs, unless they are pants of course, which is highly, highly doubtful based on my initial experience!

Think these should be a good bit more aggressive than the OEM Pagids - from what i've heard from the Lotus guys, they're a compound between the rs4-2 and rs14 in Pagid land...

Would be interested to hear the official take from Carbotech as to their Pagid equivelant

Don't leave the bedding-in too long, as you can glaze the pad which you don' want. Bedding-in shouldnt take more than 20-30 mins. Leave to cool and then you're done. Kinda like baking a cake, but easier... ;)

Mr Footlong ; Do these aftermarket pads complicate matters for abs and/or pad wear sensors at all ?

Cheers

Yes, about that..... No reason for them to affect the ABS as far as I can think as ABS only activates on sensing that the wheels are locking up while the brakes are depressed and the car is still moving forward. There is the potential for the ABS to kick in more easily due to the ability of the pads to lock the wheels more easily and also the possible imbalance between front/rear breaking power but that is all I can think of with my fairly uneducated bonce.

As for the brake wear sensors, the mechanic very carefully chiselled out the wear sensors from the Mintex pads and cable tied them back so there is no flagging of low pads from the system.

Just to be clear, is that to say the wear sensors from the Mintex were cable tied to the Carbotechs somehow,or that the sensors were tied 'out of the way' and are now not used ?

Thanks
