Can only speak as I find ... and therefore 'honestly'.

Previously I have owned a 2000 V6 RS4 Avant (loved the manual), a 1998 S2 Avant manual & a 1993 S2 Coupe 230bhp with 6 speed manual,
so I have a small understanding of the Audi / S / RS / GMBH ethos.

One of my cars is a 2007 Megane F1 230 & boy, what a great suspension and gearbox for country lanes, but admittedly, only 230 bhp.

But lightweight, so the power to weight won't be far wrong! Nice car.

Hi Graemegdc - welcome, and as has become tradition:

FON

I khope you get one, but the car with the burn in the leather and needing a bit of titivation sounds like it would have to be cheap. I think you'll find a mint example where a forum member or other enthusiast can reassure you of the work already done and the care taken with the car.

Very well put, Shoppe ole boy. However, you've mistaken me for a man of class, once again, I'll have you know I'm slightly more crass than your estimation.

just to back up a previous post about Star Performance. they do have a good rep up here and id have no qualms getting them to tune the RS6. In fact im thinking of doing just that(im torn between selling it and tuning it at the moment! :bash: ). they serviced mine inc the timing belt a couple months ago and were spot on. They have a lot of experience with VAG cars and have worked on many an RS6

guys, one last bit of advice, the car I am buying is a 2002 02 plate, does this have the old sat nav system in it ? can this be upgraded to bluetooth ? does it have tv function ? it has a sunroof but does this mean it has rear blinds etc, not quite sure of the spec and what is standard etc? just been reading some posts and I am now freaking out that I have bought one with the older sat nav(if there is such a thing!!!), does this mean anything ? another thing that i noticed when walking around the car, the parking sensors were bleeping, is this normal, the car wasnt in gear and i thought this would only happen when reverse is selected or they are turned on in the front bumper ?/?
help !! ? thanks :?

Will have rns-d, the upgrade to rns-e is easy the hard part would be finding a unit from a 6 for a decent price.
Assuming its a 'loon rear blinds were an option so may not have them.
The sensors will be on if the car had been driven in reverse and had not the been driven forward above 10 moh or so, the beeps are normal and show the system is working.

Rule 1.....,

Sweet, so there are no two different nav systems then ? makes sense about the parking sensors, cheers for that, I may sleep now (or maybe not, with excitement !) does th rns-d come standard with tv option ? it has phone cradle in armrest, but how would it fit a newer style phone ? i take it blutooth is out of the question ? is there any difference in spec with a 2002 model and later ones ? i know the later ones come with a multi function wheel, anything else ? thanks for your help

For the bluetooth, get a Parrot or similar. Forget the phone cradle. It's dead weight. Remove it or turn it into an iPod holder. Get an xcarlink for having tunes from the iPod.

There will be an analogue TV tuner so you won't pick up any TV. However with very minor mods, you can plug in an external AV source. I have 2 TV tuners and a DVD changer plumbed into mine. Think I've used them once. Maybe twice.

The multifunction steering wheel was an option, not a model year thing. THere are no significant differences between the model years other than the last ones that had RNS-E. Some of the earlier cars had a slightly different coolant circuit. Also on later cars the steamy sunroof option will have been corrected at the factory. Can't think of anything else.

depends what you class as 'upgrade'. I would rather have fully heated leather than alcantara now. Had alcantara in s3 and s4, pain in the ass if the get marked
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

The alcantara seats were an Audi exclusive option, I believe. The headlining is standard on all but a few german RS6s. Get yourself a Remington fuzz away for your alcantara seats :)

Here's how the rear doors look with blinds built in.
