Which coilover kit? & more DRC woe!!
Re: Which coilover kit? & more DRC woe!!
I could be mistaken mate but I`m sure that if they fitted new DRC it came with a 24month warranty. I would check this out if I were you as although it may mean DRC again, it will mean no worrying about WD saying , "youre on your own jack"
You could conceivably as you have intimated above, bite the bullet and fit coilovers but I`m on DRC myself and inchcape are covering the car for 3 years so it will remain on DRC until I get arsed off with the frequency of repairs/replacements required.

Yes i went up this road - i learned a whole new chapter about Audi.....
If you pay for a repair - its comes with 24 month unlimited mileage warranty......makes sense
If you get a repair carried out under a dealer supplied extended Audi warranty - the guarantee only lasts to the end of the warranty period - no longer - how pants is that!!. I offered Audi UK some words of wisdom earlier as I could not believe this could be true - but sadly it is.....a bit of a con to be fair.

Are you having a giraffe, they fit the same product but wont give you the same level of protection unless you have paid to fit it..not only is this a con, but this surely cant be legal.

Audi should be able to get the code out of the RNS-E unit for you.
As for your other point about your local dealer being OK with you. That maybe the case but you have to bear in mind that our cars are not your run of the mill 2.0TDi. Just think about it, how often do you see an RS car in the workshop, let alone in the showroom? I would say not often at all. That means the mechanics don't get to see them often enough to understand how the work and what can go wrong with them. So when they do get to work on one, mostly you'll find they think of it as just another Audi to them, although a little bit more special. So when working on these cars they treat them just like any other Audi. So as our these are specialist cars they need specialist treatment and therefore myself and so many others use the likes of MRC or Unit20. That said, there are good reviews of Audi Camberly. Although that is no doubt down to one of their mechanics by the name of Rob knowing his stuff.
Oh yes, almost forgot. Bin the DRC and get a set of coilovers fitted you'll have no regret's along with one less hassle to worry about. That way you can enjoy the car more.

This did seem like a con - same product with different warranty etc etc etc - however i've confirmed it with Audi UK, Southampton Audi and i even made a cold call to the dealer i bought the car from - Chelmsford Audi - all say the same. Unless someone here can say otherwise it does seem like a bit of a giraffe for them against the customers......

Re: Which coilover kit? & more DRC woe!!
How much should i be paying for PSS9 without fitting??
Re: Which coilover kit? & more DRC woe!!
Quite right re frequency of work by most dealers on RS models - that;'s where Camberley scores because they have built a reputation that means there are always 2 or 3 in there. That said, there are good reviews of Audi Camberly. Although that is no doubt down to one of their mechanics by the name of Rob knowing his stuff.
Rob is the Service Manager for all RS caes - the Master Tech is Stuart and he knows his stuff - including how to pressurise the DRC!!

The price of bilsteins yo-yos. So does the availability. Google "Bilstein GM5-8868" to get an idea of prices.
Contact Virdee on here to get a price.

I think you would have a serious case against the insurance company, who would in turn go after Audi. There is a 2 year warranty, and it is valid for whoever paid for the work, ie the insurance company.
If I were you, I would definitely spend the £50 to take them to the small claims court.
As for your DRC, mine was shot when I took it to Camberley, they changed all 4 shocks but the valves were fine. My understanding was that the latter rarely go wrong, so it would not be surprising if something was wrongly repaired at the time. I appreciate you have a long experience with Southampton Audi but as it has been pointed out, the RS cars are few and far between and in the DRC case, only Camberley is recommended.

Don't forget that you might want to change the top mounts at the same time, can't remember the exact names but can get you the descriptions of course if needed

However, I don't think Virdee deals with ripping out the DRC and fitting the PSS9 kit so you have to figure out where the best place is for doing that for you.

I was never really into tweeting, but I had a meeting with our social media company at work, we are a big company but if people start tweeting negative things - we listen. Tweet Audi Uk to say your disgusted etc...! I tweeted them yesterday to congratulate them on having a quattro as their display picture rather then some naff A4 front wheel drive s line diesel.

Re: Which coilover kit? & more DRC woe!!
Just an update - good old Warranty Direct paid a £3328 bill today for new shiny new Bilstein PSS9 kit, top and bottom arms, top mounts, 4 wheel alignment and removing the old DRC system - suddenly life aint so bad!!
However the offside cat has developed a slight rattle at idle......and that aint covered by warranty. Anyone have a spare OE o/s cat that I can buy?

Re: Which coilover kit? & more DRC woe!!
Maybe, would need to check with MRC.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: Which coilover kit? & more DRC woe!!
How many PSS9 kits did they install?! Or is that price a typo?ilovecoldbeer1 wrote:good old Warranty Direct paid a £3328 bill today for new shiny new Bilstein PSS9 kit, top and bottom arms, top mounts, 4 wheel alignment and removing the old DRC system - suddenly life aint so bad!!

Re: Which coilover kit? & more DRC woe!!
The kit was £1700 odd, had all new genuine suspension arms both lower + upper and track control arms £488, new genuine top mounts front and rear £112, new subframe bushes £72, o/s lower rear arm £128, the wheel alignment was £120 and the rest was VAT and labour.......
At least the suspension is sorted
, now for the rattly o/s catalyst!!
