Dear Mr Shoppinit- think there are some guys on our forum with the occasional blown turbo but it's usually down to faulty pipework- DV's and N75's are notorious for malfunctioning, MAF's also contribute to lean running, excessive heat build up and bearing failure. Had my MAF replaced pretty much as I took delivery and it was the original- after 7 years!! Also more recently there have been concerns over the camshafts- but usually localised, rather than generally worn, leading to speculation about the root cause also being excessive heat build up, chocolate camshafts(unlikely I think) or oil gallery/supply issues. Personally I think hard driving, failure to observe basic turbo etiquette- no thrashing while cold and warm down after a run- are contributary. I've had no mechanical engine issues at all apart from MAF and DV's- but then I don't drive it like I stole it- not keen on seeing £27000 of my blood sweat and tears being serially abused and thrashed and I also benefit from a little runaround for those poxy little urban commutes that would kill a 2.7 bi-turbo engine......
I like this forum...... You guys seem very friendly- although Mr Cornishmoocher sounds like he can go off on one when the occasion calls...
Cheers

Goes to show that theres more to think about RS6 ownership than just warranty....

Glad I got out when I did... Quite content with my humble passat now ... ;)
I still love running the black beast!
I'm sure you do mate ! It had almost everything done to it under warranty and more spec than any other 6 out there! A perfect example and the ORIGINAL "Black" beast ;)

PS: I travel through Haslemere on occasion and see aDark metallic Blue RS6 with anthracite wheels and an S3 with similarly coloured wheels- anyone on here? Saw a B6 A4/S4 convertible pulling away a couple of weeks ago from said residence- anyone on here- racking my small brain to recall the plate....

Yep, I'll have a bit of that.

I pick up Darth in the morning then I'm off with two ho's and a mate for a long weekend road trip.
I'll not miss that '09 A6 3.0TDi replacement... well, I will miss that superbly designed cruise control stalk and the MMI... oh, and the 'coming home' lights.

I hear you. I wonder what they were drinking the night before they designed the cruise control on the RS6. Large quantities of JaegerMeister I suspect :P

no, no , no - every prospective RS6 owner should be forced to read it before parting with their cash! :-)

Then when their steering rack / DRC / inter-coolers / whatever go they can't come on here wingeing :-)

Just as a side line, I recently spoke to a guy who has a slightly smoking C6 A6 3.0 diesel. Only had the car a couple of weeks and noticed it would smoke blue slighly on idle. Anyway, imagine his joy when Audi quoted him £5000 to change the glow plugs and injectors.

I say we've got it good with the RS6. Almost nothing major goes wrong with them other than the gearboxes (and there can't be many cars left on DRC :) )

i drove a Lambo Gallardo on Saturday, and it didnt feel as fast as the RS 6 which is 7 years old

try running a Lambo and the RS costs will look like a Fiesta in comparison

Think the gearbox on the Lambo was £10k

Really David, a Lambo, don't Audi make those? A ten grand gearbox is a bridge too far, funny, I think I'd read that the e-gear 'box in the lambo is made by ZF. You could always consider the manual version though, the clutch is only about £5000 every 20,000miles!!!

I've had two weekends away in the '6 and it still causes my smile to stretch all the way around to the back of my skull (mostly due to acceleration). I’m still amazed at the level of ‘progress’ that can be made, even with 4 adults + luggage on board. I didn't think I'd ever get rid of it... until I saw the photo below.

It looks like it's doing 120+MPH just sat there!!!
Why they didn't just ars*hole the DRC and reuse the C5 RS6 motor blueprint is going to be the worst case of "what ifs" I can imagine, it'll still be good no doubt. Saving my pennies as of... now!

the RS5 in black looks so much better than any other color i've seen... I was thinking though from the rear it's missing a lip spoiler on the boot until I saw this!

is that standard?! :-)
