Hi there.
Not sure how everyone's feeling about this following Coulboy's experiences, but I've had an email from Xcarlink tonight with the following information-
As a rough guide we could offer you the following discounts based on the quantities purchased:

5 -  6%
10 - 10%
15+ - 15%

(with or without bluetooth)
Please let me know how many people are intersted and I would can setup the discount for your so that it can be claimed on our checkout when making a purchase.

Hope that's of some use to you :)

Hmmnnnnnn, why don't we wait until coulboys had a proper play with it at the weekend and reports back his findings (Ooooooeer missus) then make a decision.
(Sorry coulboy for sugesting we use you as a test pilot but I promise to buy you a pint if you post up your results).

Don't think price is the over-riding factor here just if it works like it says it does or not.

I got a similar thing for SD cards and USB sticks from Ebay - it plugs into the CD Changer socket at the back and I have it located in the glove compartment. Works ok - the sound is ok but not fantastic - but MP3 isn't exactly good quality anyway so if you want the best hi-fi stick with CD or no-loss rips.

I'm a new owner of an 07 RS4 buit this look like it would work with my car as well. Maybe someone can fill me in, can I get the Audi head unit (RSN - E?) to accept a BT music stream from an iPhone 3G or do I need this device to do it? Do I need another part for the car or some other setting on the phone? I have the phone BT linked to the car for calls and that works OK. (the address book, however, does not sync in it's entireity and not all numbers appear for each contact. Help?) I have the Audi iPhone cable and it plain sucks. My wife was so P.O.'ed that my new Audi would not play her CD's. We spent an hour reading manuals trying to figure out why the changer would not take disks. The previous owner had to clear up that piece of clever work by the Audi dealer. This unit looks interesting though. Can't wait to hear how diff the install is.

I think I've just twigged why only some of the numbers from my phone contacts are displayed in the heatset - seems like those with just a single number will and those with multiple numbers dont? I'll test this out.

That seems entirely possible but it would be a rather poor design/bug. You may be on to something. I am trying to figure out if the MMI software can be updated. Does anyone know if it would improve iPhone interface if it were carried out?

Just found the MMI can be updated and should address some glitches. http://www.gpsunderground.com/forums/sh ... php?t=5037 is a link for a european download and lots of info. Anyone know of a North American download?

Guys I never had a chance over the weekend to do our experiment as I had an op on my back last week, Bit lame at the moment so will try again this weekend if I can sneek past the wife!
One thing I can say straight off, all the cales are too short! The Mic cable is only 2metres long, which is on the tight side to say the least.
Mind you that will take ten minutes to extend.
Will report back later with an update.

Hey, getter better before attempting anything on your car!!!
Hope you get better soon. Cheers for letting us know. I'll get on to Xcarlink about the cables, once we know about the install. Perhaps they can make an amendment? We'll see.
Take care :)

Seems I was wrong there. The next time I used the phone with the RNS-E suddenly all the numbers (including those with multiple contacts) sprang into life...

The other theory I had was to do with contacts which are assigned to groups, but I've eliminated that one too, as all of my phonebook now seems to be there.

OK, I'm probably going to get one of these regardless. In fact, I'll need 2.

@Darren: thanks for looking into this. I'll start a list so we can see what kind of numbers we are looking at:

1. Shoppinit: 1 with BT
2. Shoppinit: 1 without BT

Did anyone get one of these then ? I'm quite interested too. Also, my friendly local ICE fitted claims I can't upgrade my RNS-D to an RNS-E somthing about fibre optics ? Is this right ?
