Well overdue a visit then. Treat you to fish chips and mushy peas plus maybe a pint or two.
I have it on good authority that you are “the man” with VCDS.
I am a total novice having just bought one.
Such a novice that I haven’t got a laptop yet !

That sounds pretty good right now. Except for the mushy peas. Devil’s food.

Just heard back from hazzydayz. They cannot configure the mileage on a used instrument cluster.
They reckon there is plenty of people on line that can do it.
Anyone recommend someone.

I used a guy called Shack? I think from audi sport.net. It was about 13 years ago though, had to go upto Nottingham to get him to do it.
Sorry I can't help more than that mate.

Are you handy with electronics / computers? Happy to help point you in the right direction here if you like. It's not tricky and the tools are readily available if you have a cheap KKL style cable to connect a laptop to the car.

Yep, with Commander you should be able to clone the entire cluster, mileage and IMMO et al.
I'd personally wouldn't use a genuine VCDS cable for this, but buy one of the generic KKL cables. They're only a tenner for a decent one, so probably the cheapest bit you'll buy for the car :)

Yup. Much easier to solder a new screen on. :) Have you even checked the replacement cluster's screen is OK? ;)

Hi Shop. Asked hazzydayz to give it a good once over whilst they had it for coding etc.
Looks in very very good condition.
Will get there eventually just did not want car off the road whilst it was done.

The big error on my part was thinking that you could just switch them over and reset the milage
Dumcoff rings a bell.
Thanks to all for their input.

Sorry shopp. One glass of wine too many this evening.
Was informed that the cluster was working perfectly before I bought it. If the replacement had a problem I was going to live with it until mine was returned.
