Amazing what you find when you go looking...

Judging by the pigeon <beep> welding it seems like some cowboy has cut & shut the actuator rod

Pretty certain that these don't snap by themselves so can only assume that the actuator itself has failed and rather than spend time stripping down correctly Messers Bodget & Scarper have cut the rod and wrestled out the actuator for a quick fix.

Give them their due though, must have done the job as the motor has always made full power..... :)

I'll go down the hybrid route on standard manifolds (unless someone can give us the heads up on where I can find some tubulars with a K04 flange?) and get the pre cats gutted while the engine's out.
I would suggest that you get the Miltek 3" DP's rather than decatting the existing pipes as you will find that even decatted the stock DP's constrict the flow, and it will be more significant with bigger snails.

Even on my Stage 2 (with stock turbo's) it's the DP's that are limiting the spool up and flow I'm told. 880 Nm was the max torque I can get at present but I suspect I would be pushing past 900 with 3" DP's, and with bigger turbo's then you'll get up to Amanda's 995...

All of which is great - but you will need the strengthened box of course!

Where will it all end....... :drink:

Yes, definitely thinking of the Milltek dp's
EDIT: Now on order, it'd be rude not to go for more flow :FIREdevil:

Anyone know why they're stamped "not for road use"? Had this on many different exhaust cans for my bikes but that's for noise legislation; the dp's aren't silenced so is it simply because they don't have the pre-cats?

Technically not legal to sell them for a road car, hence the "not for road use".

You don't just loose the pre cats with these dps you loose the main cats as well. Bonus is access to gearbox for servicing is easier with no cats to get in the way.
2003 RS6 Avant, non res Miltek, 3" catless dps, wagners, MRC air filters, 044 fuel pump, MRC custom remap, TCU remap, 566ps, 812nm, pss9 coilovers, hotchkis rollbars, Recaro CSs, 390mm front discs, hi-spec 4 pot rear calipers.

Obviously they're not supposed to be fitted to a road car, just wondering what the reasoning is or the legalities are as I've never come across this with an aftermarket "car" exhaust component before (the main cats are long gone....)
As stated, very common with motorbike exhaust systems but that's mostly for noise regs, this ain't the case for downpipes so what's the reason? I can only think emissions as Chunky states.

Ah yes, the "ass covering" manoeuvre; very popular nowadays with the "where there's blame, there's a claim" culture
