This thread has been pretty restrained IMO, however, I post an open welcome to the OP on why he felt he couldn't post further information before emailing the Admin...BillTheButcher wrote:If he's that thin-skinned that he emails the admins after the responses in this thread then maybe internet forums aren't the place for him.

This.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: Problems after removing cats
What a taddle-tale. Quick, one of you turn him upside down while I steal his lunch money.
Now, I'll try and be helpful...
There seems to be a fairly busy and dedicated Audi community forum from South Africa, try asking on there if someone knows a good tuner that can code the cats out.

Or, get yourself a remote tune by Viper Tuning. Good luck fixing it.

Aye no worries FootersMr Footlong wrote:Baku, for the love of god you are like a broken record, anyway. Back home isn't massively different to SA and even the backwater garages know better than to just rip that cats off a computerized twin turbo 4.2 litre V8 engine and then slap in an electro doobamabob and say it's all good to go.
Carry on with welcomes like the above and we'll be pushing facebook for popularity...ps it's a stuck record.Mr Footlong wrote:Did you even bother to remap the car??????????????????????
If not then cowboy-tastic job right there. Need more information but it all sounds a little bodge-like for my tastes. Electronic trickery box??? "shudder".
Re: Problems after removing cats
I didn't really think the OP needed any help, after all he took his car to an expert. He must have read somewhere about the cat and secondary air removal being a good thing, where did he get his first bit of info from????????
Backdoorsex, perhaps if new members came on here and introduced themselves a little better they may just get better replies. Not saying this guy didn't but we have had some pretty ''special'' folk post on here lately.
With reguards to free advertising for MRC and UNIT20, if we didn't mention them then people would say we weren't very helpful. They pay to be on here and they get their praise for a very good reason. If i was the OP i would ship my car over to MRC and get it re-mapped.

Viper could also map it out remotely.

Re: Problems after removing cats
I would get a very big disclaimer signed by the owner before going anywhere near that car if I was the remote mapping chap. I still can't believe that the cowboys (mechanics) just did that to the car and said "good to go".
It is hard to be all sweetness and light replying to a thread where the OP says that they have basically blindly raped their engine. Do it properly or don't do it at all. With the wealth of knowledge that is on the internet I find it hard not to know that what has been does is totally wrong.
Whether the OP had any knowledge or understanding about this stuff remains to be seen but I hope he didn't as at least he could fully blame the cowboys that he let loose on his car.
Baku, I try to not develop proper dislikes for people that I haven't met in real life but hell, you're special.

Re: Problems after removing cats
There is a simple solution to people not being happy with the help and advice given because it's in the wrong context, MAKE THEM PUT A LOCATION in there profile. That way we all know where we stand and don't assume.....

Re: Problems after removing cats
Every South African I have every met is built of stern stuff, like Aussies really. I wonder if modern British Male Metrosexuality is becoming a global epedemic?
Please note, I don't "do" the FON thing with newbs, I just provide the necessary amount of help/scorn on a per-case basis

Re: Problems after removing cats
I work with two, one used to always ask for a lift home although she lived nowhere near me, the other is alright and both decent people, and the guy who done my brake upgrade is also South African, he's a top guy.
Speaking of brakes, what rear pads do people go for, OEM? Hoping to do my rear brakes this week.
