Thanks. I have done Quaife before and am liking what I am reading about the Wavetrac. If both wheels are spinning in a straight line then there is pretty well nowt I can do about it but if the spin is starting up on 1 wheel before the other this will probably help. Hmm, wasn't planning on modding this car more after blowing close to 11k on buying that S3 and modding it.

I will do my best to kill off these current tyres then was thinking along the line of some 888s for fun.

Congratulations on the new car! They really are fantastic machines.

I'd definitely recommend you look into a decent set of coilovers though as you're planning to track it. A lot of owners go for the HSD kit. My mate had a set on his m3 coupe and it went like stink when i sat in it at Malory park.

Also, you might want to look at brakes; apparently theres a K Sport kit which is good value iirc. Oh and i'm pretty sure i read something about getting CSL discs fitted with a few minor mods.

Yeah, I will definitely need to upgrade the brakes. On my mate's convertible they start to lose the plot after about 4 mins of spirited driving. Once I've got the car I'll see if I can adapt my old 8 pot calipers to fit.

Good shout on the ksport stuff. Just had a quick look and it seems a bargain:

At that price I'm not going to faff around putting RS6 brakes on it.

I know Ksport calipers well from my rice rocket days. Get my vote every time on non-2 ton barges :). Can't argue at that price imo.

What Footers said.

I ran K-Sport 8 pot callipers on my Subaru Legacy and they are a fantastic bit of kit and well equipped for a very easy installation.

As it happens I'm thinking about putting a set on my MR2 in the NY...

I was going to try and pick some up today, but it looks like it's mission impossible. Most of the "motorsport shops" are just people selling from their bedrooms it turns out. At least all those that I could have conceivably got to today. So I haven't found anywhere.

I think I'll go for the 356mm kit. The standard disks are 325mm so seems a bit silly getting the 330mm ones. Though I'm sure the 8 pot calipers improve things no end. Still can't believe BMW put single pot floating calipers on these.

I could still get some tomorrow if anyone knows anywhere that might stock them in the London area?

I remember reading you can gain about 20 BHP (car was dyno'd) by changing the headers, not too pricey from what I recall.

Surprising. The M3 engine is already in a high state of tune at well over 100bhp/liter. Hard to believe so much would be liberated.

Anyway, picked the car up. All is good. Well pleased with it. It doesn't have the grunt of the RS6 but it keeps pulling like a train all through the rev range.

It's been a miserable wet day, so not ideal for hooning around in M3, but that didn't stop me. :)

The only issue I have with it is that it's a bit twitchy at the rear. Mostly noticeable at low speeds, it feels a bit like it's hopping about very slightly when I hit a bump. I'm going to change the bushes on the rear and see if that helps. Don't think the shockers are knackered because I played with my mate's convertible back to back on our benchmark suspension test road and they were both very similar in terms of ride.

Also, head to head the coupe is not noticeably faster than the convertible.

Mine has got PS2 on it (most serendipitous) and my mate's has got Conti Sport Contact 3. The difference is shocking. The PS2 are waaaay grippier in the wet.

Anyway, some photos :
