How about getting a proper small car like an A1.

Roughly £3000 down gets you payments of roughly £220 per month with 5 years / 50,000 miles servicing included in the price and for a nice spec one… (miles per annum does make the monthly input vary).

In my book beats the Mini hands down for quality...
+1 or just get the missus a VW Up! for £99 a month PCP (or SEAT Mii or Skoda CityGo)

AND

£7k! piss off !!!!

Just list it on Pistonheads for £9,000 and it will be gone within 4 wks and you'll be £2k up
I'll buy a VW UP for £99 a month, where can I get this deal?
Your local VW dealer :P

& personally I think Mini make great cars with fab engines, but would much rather have an A1. I tested them back to back on a closed runway at Munich airport, I couldn't wait to get back into the A1 after a stint in the Mini.

The mini cooper S is great fun to drive... quickly. Really gives meaning to the phrase "handles like a go-kart". Now imagine driving a go kart around on the roads you normally drive...

We hired one for a weekend to blast round Wales in. Broke the windscreen, presumably through chassis flex. Just cracked half way down in the middle.

My wife has been running a Suzuki Swift Sport for the last 3 years, it's a great car, fun to drive more room inside than a Mini.

I agree my ex had a convertible s on a PCH deal for 3 years and it was good fun to drive and has a fab throaty hard working engine but it destroys tyres ( and your back  )... I mean really destroys them I think I had to change front tyres every few thousand miles. :( And those run flats are not cheap. No room at all inside so from a practicality side of things its rubbish and it just sucks up the fuel. Get a good specced A1 they are by far the best looking small car out there right now IMO with excellent MPG and quite a bit of room as well.

Quality bit of kit, lots if toys, genuine 40mpg and £100 tax and runs 60 in the 6's

Reminds me very much of my mk2 gti

So what do people think to residuals on all the other cars mentioned. As I quite like the mini for this reason alone, second hand ones really hold there money and not even big spec ones. Not really thinking of keeping this car for too long but who can predict the future. Its always something to think about. Cars loose money but if ya can stretch the money as long as pos?? more to spend on buying Amar's plus when he ever falls out of love for it!!!!! (I've got a feeling I might be in a long line of people for that)

LOL, I`ve got 2 mini`s, a hatchback and a clubman soho..both one diesels...

I regularly get over 550miles on 50 of diesel in the hatchback and the clubman is for the dogs(they are not turning my boot into copper haired paradise, i cant source the boot trays anywhere)

I have the tlc pack on both(free servicing) and the hatchback is free to tax and the clubman £20, which makes a change from the audi :biggrin3:

Depends on what you want from a car, the audi has all the speed I`ll ever need until I upgrade to the c7 or a GTR and the mini`s are the yang to my ying with regards to running costs and work.

The countrymans are dog ugly and the coupe/cabriolet makes an inpractical car less so..
She may be big and heavy but its whats on the inside that counts.....

Just got a deal at £103 a month + vat, with about £300 down. Going to take a look on the weekend. I suspect it might be a bit too basic and flimsy in which case I'll look at an Ibiza 1.2 TDI that I was also offered a deal on.
