We'll all be interested in what approach you take with the GB. It's frustrating as you'll have no idea how it's going to handle torque until it's all back together and in the car.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Your car will be making very good power when it's this cold ..The rs6 gets heat soak and looses power massively ..

After chasing big power for years on a rs6 all you'll do is empty your pockets and make it unreliable ....

Mr F. when you had the xjr did you ever look at pulley upgrades. Had an XJR myself for a while and thoroughly enjoyed it. My other half hated it however. She does approve of the RS6.

I had the pulleys upgraded in under a week of getting the Jaaag :D. However, the gains from changing the upper pulley were nullified by the extra strain it put on the SC and I had repeated problems with the belt so left it with just the larger lower pulley uprated.

I loved babooning about in the Jag but it physically brought the other half to tears twice driving it, utterly mad bint. She loved the RS6 though.

This is blasphemy I know on the C5 RS6 forum, but if you want to go to big reliable power with reliability - 700bhp+,I have to agree with Grizz- you have to go to a mapped C6 RS6.

You do lose some attractive C5 chacteristics- the V8 burble, a little lighter and slightly smaller car, wheel arches, incredible performance and value for a 8 year old model, no more deprciation and some C6 RS6 owners have gone back to the C5 RS6.

Amanda's beast with its huge torque figure is a very interesting C5 RS6 option. I can't understand why her torque converter has not yet gone to the great transmission heaven in the sky. Would be interesting to see what Amanda's RS6 can run a 1/4 mile with that torque. A few runs down the strip would certainly help the demise of her torque converter.

just my two cents worth.

The ECU doesn't try to protect you when it's cold. Could it be traction control? It's very subtle when it cuts in on the RS6, unlike some cars I have driven.

Hard to tell, jury still out but it is slipping. TC is tough though, it seems a bit binary in its actions, problem is, might be too tough... or the rebuild was <beep>. I wonder what to do next, better clutch packs, higher pressure, run a GB cooler. It feels really smooth and strong when cold.
I'll get there.

From an American who has not left his RS6 alone since I bought her 15 months ago, I think as owners we get "used" to the power and start to get a little bored, IMO. I am only one of 2 RS6's in the states with a dahlback stage 3 race kit, the car makes great power, but I wish I had more....and I know if I want to drop $5k more, then compression lowering gaskets, loba cams and a re tune are in order.
As for trans, I have a custom level10 trans, able to handle 800hp. Extra clutch packs, hardened internals, bigger valve body. In addition to their TC. I have launched this car repeatedly and can't make the trans flinch....that's cause I'm secretly hoping I could blow it up and swap a manual in her.

You know what, I had considered heatsoak as there is bugger all room in there as we all know and the one time I noticed this more than anything was on a run back from Southampton. I had got her nice and hot going down, parked up for a couple of hours then it was around the Winchester area that I started wondering why she didn't seem quite so train-like.

I need to get off my arse and check the ECU but no rush currently I guess.

Ben, sounds like an idiotic description but I always think that the gearbox feels like it is in a state of controlled slip a lot of the time but it certainly feels better since MRC serviced the box and it throws no codes at all now I believe. I need to remember to turn the ESP off more often as I have lit it up on the dash a couple of times but the proof could be in me lighting up the tyres a lot or not...I hate to think of Bam/Amanda being the Guinea Pigs for us with their boxes but if they eventually come up with a bombproof combo that the rest of us can use as an upgrade template then happy days. No way in hell am I going back to a Manual anytime soon!

Just another suggestion, if your worried about heat soak...there is always the sportec mod that many in the states have done to their underside tray. It lowers oil temps by 25 degrees.

Bugger, I totally forgot to ask Doug about the need for the undertray while I was emailing him. I have seen the sportec mod but agree with the possible problems about it being too poen and the position it is in. Sounds cocky but given the time I think I could make up a better one myself. Time is always the killer these days though...

Who here runs without the undertray and if not, why not? Sounds girly but I haven't looked down the lower front of the car etc so haven't checked how low the belts/pullety etc go. I have done less work to this car with my own hands than any other car I have ever owned, embarressing tbh...

I have looked over the Sportec one again and with the pulleys that low to there I would really have to do it myself to be even vaguely trusting of some random bit not getting pulled up there by accident.

Now, remove the undertray altogether and alsp fine chicken wire all over and now we're talking, ghetto-tastic yo :jump_clap: ;)
