The biggest cost for me was easily fuel. I spent £5k a year on the stuff and I averaged throughout ownership about 22 mpg as I drove it sooooo softly. The running costs (as opposed to fixing costs) were the biggest reason for moving it on.

My 6 has let me down once with altinator failure ............everything else is my mods and you really really don't want to know how much those have cost me!!!!!! :drink:

I know what it has cost and you could have bought a C6 RS 6 easily.

I've had mine for eight months now and its not been too expensive. I bought it from a guy who was getting grief from his wife about the running costs. He'd only just had it serviced and I think he got a list of jobs that would need doing.
The car had been well maintained by its two previous owners with no sign of any body damage. The tyres were bald so i replaced them with Michelins as well as having the weels refurbished. The air con didn't work which turned out to be the high pressure switch, and the Bose sounded awful which was due to the sub being unplugged. The DRC was noisy so I took that off and fitted Bilstiens. I had the gearbox serviced as a precaution and apart from that, it's only fuel costs which I suppose means I've spent lots. But I've spent more on cars that I've not enjoyed as much which makes it all worthwhile. Keep spending guys cause there's nothing else half as good!

I've had mine since May last year, and put on 17K miles since (been to Austria and Nice). A lot more than I thought I would do, and I'd rather not think about the fuel costs...The previous owner had only done 2K in 2 years.

It has however cost a lot: new tyres (although that was because I got my wife a high performance driving course which killed the previous tyres), brakes (discs and pads), 2 services (one with gearbox oil change), new DRC, cambelt, and a few bits and pieces. Also got a RNS-E (that just needed a new laser assembly), and a remap by AMD. Most are things that need to be done eventually, so I take the view that it was just earlier than planned.

That said, I do not expect much to go wrong (there, I've jinxed myself now) or need doing for while. Service is about £350 at AMD, so I can live wih that. The tyres seem to last a lot more than I expected too.

Much also depends on how you use it. I take it very easy when its cold and I try not to stress the box from standstill although I use the paddles a lot, especially for deceleration.

Mine has cost me just over 10k this year, so all in all, very cheap motoring as I'm sure you will agree. :D

ive done 9k in the 9 months or so ive had it. so far all its needed is routine servicing. that did include a timing belt mind you! oh and also 2 new front tyres as i got knobbled! actually i dont believe it was knobbly bit but regardless, they were shagged!

so roughly its cost me
2 X tyres - £500
big service inc timing belt and ancilleries + a coil pack = £1600

the big service was factored into the purchase price so not as painful as it sounds. it still needs anti roll bar bushes and the passanger door latch replacing but other than that its spot on

its an excellent example and i got it at a good price so i dont expect to loose a huge amount on it when i come to sell it. if thats the case then it wont have been expensive to run at all.

now if im on here next week complaing my gearbox has fallen out i'll be blaming you! :bash:

It's a very good way of looking at it...A decent example will probably be worth much the same in 2 years as it is now...The guy that had the car before me owned it for 5 years and saw 25 grand depreciation...thats a new gearbox every year!!
Although bills can be high depreciation is all but zero...even with fuel costs and a major disaster I doubt in real terms including depriciation we are losing as much as the punter who runs a bog standard A4 from new and trades it every 2- 3 years

I don't like this thread. Since I bought mine I've refused to keep track of the costs, all the receipts are there, including every tank of V-bastard. But there's zero chance of me adding it all up. If I did, I'd probably swallow a bottle of Valium, down a litre of Whiskey and open both of my femoral arteries with a rusty blade. I could've bought a lurvly 993 by now.

Bam - I used to have a 993 Carrera Coupe 3.6 - far, far, too slow.

993 TwinTurbo would be interesting - but put simply - I can't afford one and when I had my last 911 I ended up finding it a hinderance and used my S4 all the time instead (which was far, far faster!).

If I won the lottery I'd buy a yellow 993 Turbo S, certainly not slow. Awesome looking car, one of my neighbours has one.

Quite amazing how many 911's around now. I often see one or two a day on my 22 mile commute but I've not seen another RS6 since I've owned mine. I like the exclusivity of the Audi.
