thanks for the education on common sense and driving speeds and for the recap on what y rated tyres can do and not do and also for speaking for all the forum members that have done 180mph+ as a test, yes you are pissing on my bonfire and this is a DISCUSSION FORUM and i asked a simple question and some of you are starting to write articles and tell me about what speeds are safe and not safe, as for the person who got stopped for dangerous driving in germany and paid the fine well you got mugged and you obviously cant drive safe at high speeds, german police have stopped me many times at speeds over 150mph and ive never had problems or been told im driving dangerously, suppose it all comes down to experience and ive got twenty years of driving on german roads, hopefully this will be the end to a way off topic discussion and thanks again to those who replied to the original thread title...ecain63 wrote:Seems a bit silly to be driving regularly at those speeds. You may be a 'very good driver', but there is a common sense element that should be recognised here. Not to piss on your bonfire or start a bun-fight, but I don't think this forum is the right place to be advertising or boasting about your way above normal driving speed.
The forum members who have recorded the 180mph + speeds on here have done so as a test of thier machines, not as a regular commute. I don't know of anyone who would feel comfortable at those speeds for a prolonged period of time knowing that the tyres are pushing the limits of thier capability. They may be Y+ rated, but im fairly sure that they didnt mean constant use.

the races are not on public roads but a closed track in bulgaria that belongs to me and a few of my friendsandyt wrote:When you say that "174 is awful", that you "need" a car that can cruise at 170mph and go up to 190mph on public roads, including in races for cash, what sort of a response did you imagine that would generate?

Its my car that has done 200+gps verified (actually 204mph), and i can assure you all that I also drive a lot, and have had numbers of performance cars, and this is the quickest i have ever driven. It took nearly 5 miles of empty nearly straight road to achieve that speed.... At 190 mph, the road and wind noise is insane, at 200mph your are traveling at over 300 feet per second (20ish seconds per mile), and I for one, whilst I found it very exciting, also found it very trying, and will NOT be doing it again in a hurry. well maybe the next time I'm on an autobahn if ALL the conditions allow. But it was not an easy thing to do, the levels of concentration to do those speeds safely are huge, and i just am not blessed with it.
Sitting at 150mph us easy for these cars, but again, after a while of those continuos speeds complacency sets in- i do not care who you are or what you drive, you are not driving to the top of your ability. Unless you are Michael Schumacher.
Everyone is entitled to there opinion on this forum, and, if you do not want to hear it- good or bad, whether you asked for it or not, you will get it with posts of this nature, perhaps you should think twice about your wording- things are easily picked up on and dissected.
Personally I dont give a <beep>- if thats your bag, and you can do it safely, without killing anyone in the process, good on ya.
Mooch.

Its not the original question that anyone had a problem with, we are all interested in the top speed of our cars. It was the content of your second entry that was a bit inappropriate and thats why it has recieved this level of contest. No harm done!

Let me clarify the what you are going to do.
You regularly travel from London to Bulgaria with your child in the child seat in the back, and you want to go at 150 - 200 mph?
With your family on board.
If so I don't believe it's the RS6 that needs the chip replaced, it's your brain that needs re-chipped!
I'm sorry but even I, a proper petrol head, have an issue with this...
no let me clarify something with you my kids do not travel in the car with me when i do that run, the point was if you put a child seat in the back of a cab theres no space for anything else, so dont get ahead ofyourself and if you think my brain needs rechipping you are welcome to come and do it for me....drybeer wrote:m5killer wrote:yes i know but when you have the roads to make your journey quicker it helps, will let you know what the mpg at that speed is very soondavidkoulakis wrote: fair enuf, but still sounds crazy to me ! As Moocher said you will get opinions on here, some you didn't ask for, and that's just my two-pennies-worth.
this post is great ! lol (not)
m5killer you are serious mucking futs! wait till you have an accident at those speeds, which will no doubt end in multiple deaths.
It is not the capabilities of the driver doing those speeds but the luck of capability and unpredictable reactions of those that you are passing!
if that is your bag far play to you but just don't cause harm to those round about you that are not use to having the power our cars do !

if you are all concerned then stop me, i dont know why half of you have rs cars that can do high speeds you should all be in ladas, you all speed everyday on the main roads and the motorways the only difference here is i do my speeding in europe not the uk so if i want to do 190 or even more i will, what all of a sudden you are concerned about someone speeding then change your fuc..ng cars and get on a pushbikeandyt wrote:I doubt anyone cares about how you drive around your racetrack, it's the 190mph on public roads bit that people are concerned about.
