Indeed mate, the downsides to modding I suppose, if you still want to use manufacturers warranty...
Max I would do is perhaps an ECU remap. And if possible, on a spare ECU so I can interchange at will.

rs6 gearbox

Post by jerrywsb » Fri Jan 26, 2007 4:30 pm

i haveave just got my RS6 back after having a new gear box fitted and well pleased it has been done under warranty. however i am very concerened about the reliability with the gear box. The only reason i got audi to check my box out is because a pal who has the same model had just had his replaced at a cost of 6k and i thought i would get mine checked out while still under warranty.Full marks to Audi for replacing it but theere must be an inherrent probelm with the box , it is too much of a coincedence !

They're the weakest part of the car.
I know of 4 other people who've had their box replaced, and although Audi don't admit theres any issues with them, it certainly is more than a coincidence that they all seem to go wrong!

Well, I'm in this club too. Luckily I had just purchased the car so the garage had the work done and I haven't had to pay for it. I had valve errors a day before it started "slipping" and "banging". A day later it was undrivable, 5 yards and it would slip out of gear! Barely managed to drive onto the transporter. Incorrect Gear Ratio errors.

Lol, maybe Audi should supply the car with 2 gearboxes each, So you can strip down and fix one while the other is working.
