Re: Carpet soaked.
Been out for a two hour drive with the air con on.
Arrived back home and checked for drops of water on the drive. Drive was completely dry. Usually I can see drops of water on the drive.
So in conclusion
I have water getting into the cabin from the pollen filter housing.
I also have what appears to be a blocked air con drain.
Not sure how to go forward yet.

Re: Carpet soaked.
The Scuttle shares the same drain pipe as the air con.
So if I clear the air con drain that will also allow the scuttle to drain.
Can anyone confirm (or otherwise) that the a/c drain is in the passenger footwell on a right hand drive car.
Re: Carpet soaked.
THere was a thread recently with photos. I'll try to find it.

Re: Carpet soaked.
Many thanks for that Ben
I thought I had two leaks. Air con drain plus pollen filter housing wet.
I still don’t get it. How water gets into the pollen filter housing.
But apparently they both share the same drain ? So with a bit of luck sorting the a/c drain will sort it out.
It will also give me the opportunity to switch the CCM. I still get lots of central locking errors.
Even more so with a wet footwell.
Although I cannot feel the wet in the front footwell. I am guessing that it is soaking further down.
So come Monday morning , hopefully will be able to get stuck into it.

Have you got a Milltek exhaust Steve? Here's my thread from years ago, sorry photobucket removed the pictures. http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... ak#p578771

Re: Carpet soaked.
Hi bilco.
Thank you for your response.
I did have a miltek on the car years ago.
I removed it and reinstalled the original exhaust when I bought the car.
Just about ready now to clean the Air con Drain.
Doesn’t look too bad a job.
I am still struggling to understand how water gets into the pollen filter housing.
The scuttle drains are clear.
Can water back up from the blocked air con drain pipe and get into the pollen filter housing ?
As previously mentioned the pollen filter is bone dry. But underneath the filter is wet.
Will concentrate on clearing the a/c first.

Re: Carpet soaked.
Stripped out the front carpet to get to the a/c drain pipe.
Although the front passenger carpet was dry on top. It was soaking wet underneath.
Removed the drain pipe to get at the rubber drain.
Blew it all out with compressed air.
Tested it with water that tested ok.
Was going to replace the ccm but it was too wet. So will replace that when the carpets have dried out.
Had the a/c running for a while on full blast.
A bit concerning as no water drops on my drive.
Will just have to see how it goes.
Poured a gallon of water into the scuttle. That ran straight out of the bottom of the car.
So I also don’t know why it is all wet under the pollen filter. The actual filter is bone dry.

Re: Carpet soaked.
Nipped out to the shops this morning with air con on.
A few drops of water on the drive when I came back.
That gives me a bit of confidence.
Just hate not knowing how water got into the pollen filter housing.
As I have said the actual filter is bone dry.
And the pollen filter housing and seal are all intact.

Re: Carpet soaked.
Dried out the carpet. Replaced the ccm.
Now my remote won’t work.
Anyone know how to reset the key using VCDS

Re: Carpet soaked.
Thank you Ben. Followed the above instructions. Thankfully the remote control now works.
CheeRS mate.
Recoded the CCM so hopefully the auto locking works as before.
Will see how we get on with the won’t safe and won’t de safe errors.

Re: Carpet soaked.
You sure you found the source of the water ingress?

Re: Carpet soaked.
No mate I am not sure we have cured the fault.
But what was interesting was reading that the scuttle drain and the air con drain share the same drain pipe.
Checked the scuttle. The Drain hole below the coolant reservoir was clear. Poured a gallon of water in and it ran straight out.
Pollen filter was dry. But under the filter was soaking wet.
I don’t know how water got in there as the scuttle drain was clear.
I had the car jet washed the car the day before I discovered the soaking wet interior (front and back nearside seat footwells).
Very recently had the inter coolers and silicon hoses replaced.
Then the front passenger window regulator was replaced.
Air con drain pipe. Removed and checked. Rigorously blown out with air.
Poured water into the drain valve. Water ran out under the car.
Note to self. Do the water test BEFORE you blow it out with air. Otherwise you won’t know if it was blocked or not.
Mechanic believes it was a blocked drain valve as the soaking interior was confined to the passenger side of the car. I would go with this, if it wasn’t for the pollen filter housing being soaking wet.
I have been using the air con all week. The carpets were no wetter than we had left them.
We spent a fair bit of time today with a wet and dry vacuum cleaner, hoovering out the carpets and foam. Before we changed out the CCM unit. Surprising how much water is retained in the foam.
I will just have to see how it goes. Especially when using a power washer on it.
Just a quick test drive.
Auto locking works fine.
Will see if any won’t safe and won’t de safe errors are logged in due course.
I think I have replaced the door locks 3 times to remove these faults.
Replacing the ccm is a last ditch effort.
Ps. What moron at Audi designed a pollen filter housing with a FOAM seal.
