Can't you get in touch with Chester Automatics ? I think ? They do the job for around half of that as they don't remove the engine to do it.

Also if it's just the TC that's failed why the need for the box to be stripped ?
I think unit 20 use Chester Automatics for the rebuild.

I'm just questioning one thing, what is the connection (apart from a physical drive) between the gearbox and torque converter?
I thought their internals were entirely separate with different fluids so a failed TC shouldn't put any debris into the gearbox.

No, they share the ATF. You can see the oil seal here:

Well finally picked her back up today, just drove back from unit 20 was very weird, after a long time away from the wheel total cost was £4600.00, now to her cleaned up she’s in a right state lol, but let’s just hope that’s it now, need to take her back after 500 miles just to get the gearbox oil levels checked etc, just to make sure everything is working as it should.

Ooof...that's quite an increase in price since I had mine done. Probably 6 years or so now.
Glad you're back in it, enjoy those smooth gear changes.

Nice one mate. Glad you two are back together.
Now enjoy her.
Ensure you adhere to the warming up and cooling down procedure.
As above. What work was done in the end.

Thumbs up Barry. Let’s hope the heartache is now over and you can really start to enjoy the car.
They are amazing.
