That’s shocking. Absolutely gutted for you. What a bunch of scumbags.

Don’t beat yourself up though; they’ve probably had some practice at this and do it because it works - most of us would be in a daze if there was smoke bellowing out of the exhaust!

I think you will have done a great deal of people a favour by posting about this on here though.

What a cr@p way to end your rollercoaster ride of C5 ownership.
Here's to hoping the C7 experience is nothing but highs for you!

The silver lining is that the engines are not exploding at high mileage.

Honestly Dave it’s not worth beating yourself over it. Karma will get them. It’s not as bad as me buying 2 bottles of water in a laptop case thinking I’d bought a nice Sony laptop.

Could have been worse. Could have been an iBook. At least the water is useful.

It would have been if it was Still water but it was sparkling and I can’t stand that sh1t. I ended up using them as a door stop in my warehouse.

So how much did you let it go for ?

Personally alarm bells would have went when they were still willing to buy it

Hi guys - appreciate the sympathy - not beating myself up - it's just life, and no-one got hurt (well apart from my bank balance and my pride!)

And Vagmachine - I'm very grateful for your post - Have reported to Action Fraud, and VSTAG - at least I can alert everyone including Autotrader
Did you have a tracker fitted Dave?
Yes - and I have told them but I'm not sure they can deal with it as my subscription had expired and technically the car isn't "stolen".

No CCTV or similar.

Oh - and Eddie - one of the guys did ask for a bottle of water!!

The C7 is in Camberley Audi having the AC sorted - but at least I can go back to the dealer on that one!

Happy days - and keep enjoying (but not selling) your beasts!!

Dave

I was asking £7950 and getting no takers at all - eventually got a few interested around £6500 and these guys were offering £6750 which was still 2K above Webuyanycar. At 206000 it was substantially the highest mileage on the books at present.

I actually sold at £3300 (cash - now in bank!) and at the time reckoned that with a blown engine was probably better off letting it go than getting it up to MRC for a re-build.

It's easy to be wise after the event!!

Just posted on your for sale thread Dave.

You will see the car advertised again on Gumtree or Facebook for £6k so that they can make their markup. But there isnt much you can do about it unfortunately. These guys target high mileage cars as its easier to get away with it.

A shame really as it looked a nice car

I'm terribly sorry to hear about this - incredible how slick these con artists are, wow.

At least you are all ok, it's just a sad way to see the old steed go, and of course the damage to your wallet.
