Makes sense. Get a bit more then, and do it twice. That way you'll get 90% of the old oil out. Means you'll have to do a flush before dropping the sump and changing the filter, though, or you're gonna need 2 gaskets and they aren't cheap.

You might want to get some new sump magnets, too. And I recommend getting all new sump bolts. Although I'm guessing that the weather in SA is probably not as rust inducing as here.
Definitely. I hadn't thought about doing the sump magnets - good call, thanks. As for the sump bolts, was planning to inspect them when I checked the boxes name plate. I hope they in decent nick, as it looks like the car spent its first 2 years of life in the UK before being brought over in 2006/2007.

Cheers for the info below!

Sadly, looks like the two front wheel fender liners are missing and can't be found. This disappoints me a little.

I don't even want to know what Audi would wasn't for the OEM parts. Being a noob with Audi part codes - I am very familiar with VW ones, what is the difference between:

* 4B0
* 4B3

I found a site that supposedly has these liners -https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/prasco-7449439.html and https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/prasco-7449438.html

Price seems ridiculously low. OnlineCarParts.co.uk any good?

That normally refers to the platform and variant. 4Bx = A6 C6 platform. 8Ex = A4 B7 platform.

Sometimes the parts are interchangeable between platforms, though. Sometimes they are generic.

Possibly the difference between 4B0 and 4B3 is that the latter is for the V8 chassis. They have wider wings and I guess the wheel well liners will be different shapes.

Part numbers are 4B3821171B and 4B3821172B. Looks like the stealer price is about £100 each. Could be worse. Only 0.2 Standard RS6 currency units to replace both.

Yeah, I was thinking that the 0 vs 3 would possibly be the wide body variant. Upon inspection, looks like OnlineCarParts.co.uk doesn't have too good a set of reviews. Looks like they based in Germany.

Yeah, thanks - those are the part numbers I found from the catalogue. 100GBP looks better than the 234USD I saw on ECS's website. Sadly I won't find any locally in South Africa, I'm sure. The next thing would be getting ripped a new one on shipping.

Haha at the 0.2 RS6 currency. :lol:

Yeah, they cropped up recently in a thread on here. I wouldn't use them. They might pop up on ebay or something. I wouldn't have thought it's a deal breaker, but it's weird they got lost. Has it had bodywork?

Yeah, they're light but a funny shape. Why don't you ask a SA VW / Audi dealer for a price?

Yeah, it had some damage to the front bumper and radiator, as well as the front right. I think they were lost when the previous owner installed an air suspension setup. :bash:

The accident damage was repaired with OEM parts from what I can see (history pulled from the Dealers system).

Well, it seems there might be some luck on my side. I found a 2003 RS6 Avant (non Plus) being stripped at a Scrapyard - sadly VERY far from me, about 1100km / 680miles so I can't go see the parts for myself. But I've asked a mate to pop in there for me and see what parts are available and condition. So I MIGHT be able to get myself the front wheel fender liners, as well as the interior carbon trim bits. Mine sadly has the Gloss black (I think) which was covered in the awful carbon wrap.

I received the Offer to Purchase this morning, so I need to go through it with a fine toothed comb and hopefully by the end of today, I will be truly accepted in these parts. :rocker:

Cool. Sounds like a complicated process buying a car in SA.

I'm sure the liners will be fine. It's not like they need to be perfect.

The piano black trim is nice. I prefer it to the carbon. You could just remove the wrap. Suspect if it's been wrapped then it'll be wood underneath, though.

Get some other bits from that car while you're at it. Like TCU.

Haha, usually it's not that complicated.

It's definitely the piano black. I am HOPING that it wasn't wrapped because it's damaged and scratched. If I can secure the carbon bits for a decent price I'll take them. I believe the TCU was replaced about 2 years ago - had water ingress due to a blocked A/C drain pipe I think.

If you can get the TCU for a good price, it'll be a sound investment.

Do you possibly know the going rate when one usually comes available on Ebay? 600GBP perhaps?
