how many times you replaced gearbox posting.php?mode=quote&f=2&p=874068#
Just once - but it was with a "bullet proof" (their words, not mine) uprated box from 517 Trans in the US. Done a 120k+ miles on that box now and still seems fine.
impressive what did that set you back ?

TBH I can't recall! I think it was around $4000USD. There's a whole thread from the time at viewtopic.php?f=2&t=97644&hilit=517trans&start=150

AFAIK 517 Trans no longer exist - probably need to trawl RS6.com to find the story etc and who still does uprated boxes.

RS6.com has been out of business for a very long time now. I think they maybe let their domain name lapse and someone swooped in and registered it, holding it to ransom.
No matter where you go, there you are.

It was regularly hacked anyway. I had zero trust in RS6.com admin.

This^^^^

To be fair, the first one I had replaced was the original @125K so inevitable that'd fail.
I made the decision to have a full recon 'box & TC from one of our much revered specialists as it made sense financially; not a great deal more cash to get the 'box done too as a lot of the final bill is labour.
The recon TC failed after less than 2 years/10K.
I did then try and go "bulletproof" as some on here have but, at the time of looking, 517 Trans & ACE had seemingly dropped off the map; not sure if they've resurfaced now.
Tried to get the TC recon'd but beyond repair (that'll be the 880Nm then...) so got a "new" OEM one, working well atm...that's fooked it for me!

IPT is still going. Nice bloke.

Level10 appear to be still around despite past controversies. They do rebuild kits which is nice.

I wonder where those Yankers go now for their RS6 banter.

Good to know.
I spoke to numerous "specialists" (over the phone) that promised the Earth but when asked specifics were just chatting :dung:
Shame there doesn't seem to be anyone with the know how on uprating the TC over here.

Yeah, it's not rocket surgery. It's just that there isn't the demand. Even in the US, there are only a handful of "specialists". More clutches, more plates, higher pressure... I suspect that's all they do.
