Sorry guys just had a busy time with the little one she was only born last monday. When i first plugged the car into Vagcom the adaptation was around 5% on the 1st and 3rd column on block 32 having only the 4 fuel trim faults with no misfires. As the car warmed up the adaptation settled right down.

Ive not yet checked the coolant temp sensor but the coolant temp reading on Vag Com is between 90-94° whilst on tick over.

I suppose im going to have to plug it into Vagcom on a really cold morning?

No, if a leak is present then it will always affect your adaptation values.

Maybe the SAI is playing up letting unmetered air in when cold but SAI is only active for a few seconds. Also it normally throws codes unless it's been mapped out.

I would warm the car up, reset the trim and drive it for 5 or 6 miles while logging the trim until stable. This is to eliminate a leak as the cause.

Also log your EGT from cold start to warm engine.

Im not sure if its been mapped out tbh how can you tell i believe it to gave an MTM stage 1 and MTM gearbox remap. I will do the logs as advised and go from there. Its brain boggling as to what it could be without investing £xxxx's and still nit finding the cause. Im new to the V8 Biturbo engine hence why i would like to ask for fellow C5 owners advice?

Thanks
Matt

Im from Doncaster, South Yorkshire. I believe thats the only 2 people i would trust with the car are MRC and Unit20. Both being miles away. I used MRC on my B5 S4 and would thoroughly trust them again its jst the distance i am away just fir an health check?

Admittedly I've only glanced through - but everything you've noted points to a significant an air leak after the MAFs. Apologies if others have detailed this already...
1. Check the filter box is seated correctly.
2. Check the hoses on the top of the intercoolers to the engine.
3. Check the hoses on the bottom of the intercoolers

If you can keep it running long enough, spray WD40 on the hoses see if it smooths out a little. If nothing else, it'll clean em....

These are the obvious things - but in my (limited) experience, the only thing that'll cause a motor to bark into life and immediately die is a major air leak.
Last time I had this happen on one of my cars (The Saab) I'd just fixed all the boost control hoses - it suddenly had full boost and blew a hose off.
Not the easiest drive home on an auto box!!! Turns out you can bump start some autos....

So ive logged the trim on the car and it never moved from set off till home around 5 miles. This is after it got warmed up. I also logged the boost and the maf readings. I looked at the egts but never logged them. Even after the car was at running temps the egts were staying around 330°

Whats the boost on these cars with a stage 1 map roughly?

Thanks
Matt

Max boost around 2100mBar.

So the trim stayed at zero?

330 doesn't sound very high but I don't remember what mine were. Bad EGT readings can cause cold start fuelling issues.
