Bedankt! / Thanks all!

Also started on stripping the engine. Looks all fine. Only 4 water-pump bolts which didn't come out.
Now the fun part starts. Ordering parts

Loving the engine photos. Looks like you have a leak from the right side cam chain tensioner by the way. I'm gonna change both of mine soon (been planning it for ages) - and was going to give it a go just removing the inner camshafts and either locking the cams in place (and crank) or at worst taking the cambelt off too.

Are you planning to do it too? It'd be useful if you could inspect your cam chain tensioner pads just to see what they are like for us. Keep the photos coming!

Blimey!

I impressed myself after taking apart a pump I had in the pond, cleaning the gunge out and putting it back together again!

That level of engine / box disassembly is mightily impressive and clearly the OP has the skills and knowledge to put it all back together in working order again!

Hy,

I will replace all the gaskets yes. I also just have looked at my chain pads and they are worn and pitted. Audi does not offer the replacement pads they only supply the complete tensioner :knob:

I found a set on Blauparts and was wondering if anyone has experience with it? How is the quality??
