The real question is who to trust to fit it. I was a doubting thomas when I bought mine (how hard can it be!!!) and fitted my box myself. I succeeded, in fact did >100 miles on it just today, but while it's not technically difficult to do there is a whole shitload to do, including a bunch of extras that are a must while the motors out. And that's where the specialists are so important - they know:
a. The right order to do things (OK, so you can follow the service manual - but it takes circa twice as long the first time you do it, and they'll still be charging you....)
b. What the right extras (such as the bufkin pipe & upper lambda sensors) to do are. These are generally fairly well documented here.
c. All the tweaks to make life a little easier.
I wouldn't ask even an Audi dealer, let alone a local garage, to do it, because the engine is soo tight that if you forget 1 bolt or don't do up 1 coolant union to the perfect torque - it's engine out again. Which, IMVHO is circa 2 days out and 2 back days in again. MRC & Unit 20, while I don't have first hand experience of either, are universally credited with being the best on these cars.
Or if you have a complete toolkit, space, time & motivation - DIY it.
