Damn, that's a good idea. Think I'll speak to MRC about doing this myself, maybe with different tips so not to copy you too much, they do look good though!

Have they got the measurements from yours still? I need to visit them soon for a remap so maybe they could make a set of these ready to slip on when i go up there.

Thanks Ian, video's good too cheers.

I had mine done at a custom exhaust place in Swindon - Bells silencers - and took about 2 hrs. As it was custom there is no pattern or measurments to give you but any exhaust place could knock one up in a few hours.

I've lost the number for the proper Audi sleeves but I'll find it out tomorrow, they are £24 each and look much better than the Universal fitting currently on my right pipe.

*EDIT* - Just seen you're in Southampton, I'll be in Winchester tomorrow night until 7pm you fancy a quick meet and listen before you do this yourself? Chick me a PM if you're interested.

Audi Stainless Sleeves 65mm - 8L9253139A - £24ea from Oxford Audi

Well, that makes a big difference! Had the brace bar welding across this morning and driven down to Alresford and all the 1800-2300rpm resonance drone (and slight vibration felt through your feet) has gone and the exhaust note has increased in pitch slightly. It almost sounds like a nasally Subaru boxer 4 (best example I can think of). I "think", although it may be me thinking too hard to find differences, that it's slightly quieter now as well but that may well just be down to the lack of drone at those lower rev points.

It's certainly more civilised around town from inside the car but still sounds just as loud outside according to my mate who did the drive-by vids for me.

Overall, I'm very happy with it!

Ah bugger, that sucks :( You get it sorted?

Cheers for yesterday, car sounded awesome! I was really surprised how quiet it was at idle, then had a great note and decent (but not too excessive) volume on the throttle. Also was cool to see how your car ran on the MRC map, much stronger bottom end.

Let me know next time you're this way mate ;)

Another video, used a different mic which can capture bass and from my Sony Digicam, the first part is only 1500-2800rpm and the second is startup where the exhaust sounds very meaty when cold but after 30-45seconds (when the SAI turns off) the exhaust becomes very quiet, almost stock.

Full Throttle Video - I need a windshield for the mic as the wind noise can get annoying!

Yup, they work for me also.

So are you going to leave the exhaust like this now?
How is the drone at around 80? I think you mentioned it was ok in a previous post?

Nope, they're back to stock now for the week. I was out at the Goodwood FOS on Sunday so left them fitted until last night. Got a non-car forum meet on Saturday so they'll be going back on Friday night. The change over took 15mins as the non-Audi temporary sleeve on the right was a pain to start but the left side took less than 2 minutes.

The 70mph drone is gone and it's still fine at 80mph but the exhaust is quite loud anyway, but especially if you accelerate even slightly. I did 4hrs on Sunday at motorway speeds and it was never too loud etc but I'm probably more willing to put up with loud exhausts since my Skyline used to deafen me. On my airfield 120-140mph is very loud and drowned out my stereo at it's normal volume level.
