Thanks - I'll give that a try! I won't have the car back until next week now as just dropped in for service and brake fluid change etc so may take a few days but I'll definitely try it out and let you know the outcome.

I've also spoken to Audi and the pins are available seperately, which is good in case I do have to loop the power and SAFE pins.

For anyone interested the part number for the pins is 000 979 225 EA. Note that they come in three thicknesses for different cable sizes, so that part number may only be for one of the thicknesses, but they'll find no doubt the options based on that number if you ask.

Audi Emailed me this image to ensure we were talking about the same pins, just for reference for anyone who finds this post in the future:

The Part Number is on the image. Seems to come on a cable with a pin on both ends.
