I don't think the intention is to bake it :biggrin2:

Probably just warm up the whole car to 30ish deg which will dry things out quickly

The basic problem is that the foam backing to the carpet is anything up to 3" thick in places as it is moulded to fit the floor pan. Your best bet is a really good carpet cleaner, and lift the carpet to try to get underneath it and suck from behind (Cue Bam!) followed by a dehumidifier for a week or two.

You really don't want to leave it wet for too long - not only are the "Comfort" unit and TCU under there, but with copper cables, and aluminium crimps, you will start to get electrolytic corrosion eating away at the copper wires - and there are literally hundreds down there.

Believe me - been there and got the (wet) tee-shirt!!

Are you going to set the oven? It's ok if it is your oven but if you are telling someone you want the inside drying then they will want it doing quickly.
The air con gas is pressurised and doesn't like being warmed up.

Have you ever been warned about it? Some manufacturers recommend that air con gas is removed before a car is baked.
Just noticed you have a soggy floor, hope you get it sorted. You going to put the car in the oven to help dry it out?

no never been warned of it....what could happen? i plan on taking the 6 off the road for a short while whilst i sort out the problems ive been having so the carpet should be dry anyway..... i wouldn't be worried about it though.
when i worked at the sheffield vw/audi dealer a few years ago (approx 14 years) there was a rule about not baking quattro's above 65c as it fried the ecu, no idea whether it does though!

by the way i dont know of any bodyshop that would remove and refill the aircon before and after bake as its not economically viable, bodyshops aint making fat stacks yo!

What could happen? It's a pressurised system containing gas. I'm not fussed if you do it or not, but I know it can be dangerous so just saying.

nah <beep> that! baked plenty of pressurised <beep> and never had anything go bang, aerosols, air con units etc, gas struts sometimes break they're seals but only recall that happening once, 80 degrees c in a spraybooth is pretty hot but not that hot if ya know what i mean, the air in the booth is hot but bake time is 30-40 mins so it would probably not be hot enough to build up enough pressure in said pressurised container to make it go boom!

a spark near a battery NOW THEY GO <beep> BOOOM!
