Sorry - been busy for a few days so hadn't noticed my name being taken in vain!!
I still have DRC and am very happy with it. If you analyse the cars for sale on Auto trader and PH I reckon you'll still find more than 70% are on DRC - I haven't checked for a couple of years, but it was well over 80% then. This is probably a reasonable indication of the population of cars at large.
The key to having DRC work - in a word - the technician that fits/maintains it. (Oh, that's six words!). IMHO there is only one Dealer (Camberley) and one Mastertech (Stuart) in the whole country that I would trust. However, since you are in London, Camberley Audi is all of 1 mile off Jn 4 on the M3, so worth a trip down if you want it sorted - ask for Rob Chorley, and tell him that Dave sent you!.

Could be - but a quick scan through the first 35 cars on PH and Autotrader found 27 on DRC and 8 on Coilies - ie 77% still on DRC. There may be some overlap (ie cars on both). Interestingly the ones on PH were close to 50:50, showing that cars trying to market to "enthusiasts" are more likely to be modded - unsurprising, but evident in the data.

This may seem like an obvious question, but, given the choice of either, would people on here prefer to stay with DRC (assuming it was working), or still switch out to Coilies?

my drc control valves i believe were shot when i picked the car up, and the ride was ok but not brilliant.
i've never been in an rs6 with working drc. the coilies are much stiffer, but do give the car a better stance in my opinion.
i've also put on the hotchkis ant roll bars, which have stopped any body roll i did get. everybody has there own opinion. but i believe most rs6 owners would say if the drc was working and more importantly, more reliable, then they would stick with the drc.

I think there's a lot of rose tinted glasses action going on with the DRC. I've been in RS4s with working DRC and I don't see what the fuss is about. The ride in mine on PSS9 is spookily similar to my mate's RS4 on SS+.
When the RS6 came out, all the journos were moaning about how hard the suspension was.
The biggest issue with the DRC is how it fails stealthily. Your handling slowly degrades and because it's a gradual process, you don't notice it. Until one day you're hopping sideways into a ditch.
/EDIT: that said, I wish that it was more reliable and that Audi hadn't taken the piss when it came to replacing / repairing it. I would have kept it if it was any good. I don't change things for the sake of it. On my M3 I have no intention of changing the suspension. Because it works. Different story for the brakes though.

The problem is time. If you have loads of spare time on your hands then drc is ok, if you don't then coil overs it is. You know at some point drc IS going to fail.

But the drc can fail every year though! It does boil down to reliability.

I'm still running DRC it's been re gassed a couple of times and I have considered the coil over option but 2k is a lot of money and I believe a working DRC is still better for all round ride quality.

Ok, thanks for the opinions. I think I'll wait for the DRC to fail, and then replace it with the coils. Just seems like an unnecessary cost every year or so, and I'm certainly not a talented enough driver to notice the difference most likely. The car will be used mainly as a fast GT, and I only tend to drive on the twisties at seven tenths anyway.
