Did you enjoy smelling bacon again yesterday?

Finally managed to make a proper modified master of the Eastern Europe disc with just the Speed Trap POIs integrated. Bam's copy is made up so I will do yours this weekend. I am testing each disc in my E so I know they work.

If you get read/medium errors then it means that your laser is either getting tired or you can try cleaning it. I have a couple of different lens cleaners for this.

yeah, hows the other eye Mr Amar?!..

i like the rnse Nick, and i would invest in the 2010 model, but the only bug bear i have is the lack of album artwork on the screen during ipod playback.

i've spent hours and hours browsing the net, but not found a decent solution apart from aftermarket units.

I don't do Apple anything and all I want is good music and lots of it so no album artwork isn't an issue for me. The Nav system was just as important to me too as I hated having to plug in a DumDum when off to somewhere new and I genuinely wasn't expecting the E nav to be nearly as good as it is.

More or less, yes. Overall menu layout is the same I think but it has all been prettied up too in order to take advantage of the enhanced screen/graphics processing. I can't comment on if things like the nav system are any better at all or exactly the same as I never got to use the 1st gen -E I bought. I am simply not knowledgeable on this subject I am afraid.

Apologies if you already posted this info, but I couldn't find it looking back:

1. What is the part number of your RNS-E?
2. Is it the LCD or the LED version?

Tak.

No idea about the part number and sick as a dog today so I don't think I will be going head unit extracting but I will let you know. 99% sure it is the LED version.

I've been offered a 2012 RNS-E with faceplate for RS6 for about £700. Does that sound about right? I see that on ebay you can get the 2012 RNS-E for about £400. Ums and ahs.

Shop, if you can get an A6 faceplate cheap then buy the £400 A3 one, if you're not fussed about having the pre 2010 model you can have my old one with an A3 faceplate for £250.

Thanks, but the only one that vaguely interests me is the latest generation RNS-E.

You won't regret RNS E, Shop. There is no need to go aftermarket when the RNS E is still used in Audis of today. I'm glad Footers is backing me on this now. :)

Knowing how much of a step up the latest one is now Amar, I wouldn't have gone for the 1st gen either, I just so happen to have both currently. It is quite an ask for an existing E user to jump to the latest gen one though.

Shopp, 8P0 035 193 G RNS-E Made 07/02/2012. No doubt you will be fine doing this yourself, but for those of us without the time/inclination and want a custom fitted job with bespoke cabling etc, NHN is your man imo. Doesn't count for you anyway since you aren't even in this country.

Nick, did NHN do the VIM hack for you?
