Err no

The old ones did though, when I took the first one off I thought it had broken then realised they were all like that. What's the reason behind that? I'm taking these off next weekend (it won't be used at all this week) as they are for the A8. I'm not bothered about that Ian, I have never curbed a wheel or had problems avoiding them.

The 2 parts wheel bolts are important for being able to torque up the wheels to the necessary torque without putting excessive pressure on any one point of the alloy. This is because the alloys on the RS6 are voluntarily soft. With the solid type then when you torque up the wheel you crush the seat in the wheel slightly.

Also I believe it has something to do with maintaining equal pressure against the disks and hub. I can't find the original text that explained it. I'll keep looking.

Found it:
The Audi RS6 uses a new technology for the
wheel bolts to maintain constant torque.
The tapered section of the bolt is not part of
the body of the bolt. Similar to a packing
plate, the tapered washer is only loosely
attached to the bolt in the cylindrical section.
The particular advantage of this method of
attachment is that previously used bolted
joints only permit slight changes to the
specified tightening torques for aluminum
wheels due to contact corrosion.
Coefficient of friction
remains constant.

Amar,

You seem to have all the tips and knowledge for cleaning one these sweeties but I wondered if you know what would be best to clean or remove some stains from the natural leather that some of Plus's come in? Ive seen one that is OK but it has some stains in the back that need attention  I couldnt possibly ask what caused them though!

Gliptone liquid leather cleaner with a swissvax leather cleaning brush would be where I'd start them feed with liquid leather conditioner.

Know the feeling, I was a carless student when I signed up to RS246 and Tyresmoke, and arrived at the first of the MK meets in a friends 1.0.

All good things come to those who wait.

You are making me feel old. When I got my first car internet didn't 'exist. The only forums were ones you had to dial up to directly. Netscape 1.0 came out about 2 years later :P

Join the club...my first car was an Alphasud!!!!

As an aside, am mega-f'ed off today. Someone (have now discovered who) put some hairline scratches on my RS when parking next to me at work....needless to say, they will be paying for a respray if it is needed (however am hoping that Kelly at KDS will be able to polish them off)... but Jeezus wept, I don't spend 3 hours plus cleaning the bloody thing to show off minor nicks! Arrrgh.

Being young has its disadvantages, next month.

Insurance £2,500
That is on top of
Cambelt £1,000
Warranty and inspection £1,949

That's £5,449 and what I class as essentials. I'm also having my Milltek (and free service) and remap/plus plate and whatever gets picked up on the health check sorted too and that isn't included in the above price.

Now you're making ME feel old... And grumpy with spelling corrections...

What I mean is that you meant to type "Alfa Sud"...

@Shop - My first car proper was a Golf MkII. Yours?
