Is it worth notifying WBAC and others about the moody history of the car plus all the auction houses so it becomes totally untouchable?

You think auction houses will not sell a car because some guy called up and told them not to?
And even more laughably, you think WBAC will say no because little jonny told them not to? This car has probably already changed hands between traders

That may be true.
But he was only suggesting that be done as an aside to what has already been done by the forum members. A slight over reaction there to that suggestion.

So as a precaution he asked me to be there
But this was not necessary as the 2 guys were gents
But to anyone selling a car private if you can have a mate there it could prevent this sort of scam
Again gutted for you i hope these <beep> wits get there come uppance

Thanks. Yes he still has it . It's been a second car now for quite a few years .Used only in the summer months .
Golich sure did a good job of looking after it . And my brother has kept it that way . Don't see him on here anymore . Is he still into his fast Audis?
Send him my regards if you see him . Good to meet the pair of you .

Wow what thread. Being trustworthy human beings most of the time you forget that some are just c&&ts!!
I bought my C5 off a nice Polish dude. He loved the car and always wanted one, subsequently spending a lot to keep it in good nick. His brother was a C6 owner. Nice honest bloke it seemed.
My car has been punished for the last 3 months while I curse under my breath when i see it for breaking so soon. However at the end of the month it will be taken Chester Automatics for a gearbox inspection and whatever it needs. I found Chester Autos to be the best sounding and most inspirational (confidence) to me to have the car fixed there. Although it may cost more then some places i feel they will do a very good job.
I may be lucking - gearbox was rebuilt 12k ago - and they said it may just be the gearbox oil pump. Labour is the expensive part as always and they assured me they rebuilt torque converter even stronger and replace anything that needs replacing with genuine parts. They also said they rebuilt to a high spec and have had many remapped cars never to complain or return. Soumds good but will be 3k.
I will them decide to keep or sell as i still have parking problems and woman problems. Have a nice day lads.

Mines on a Chester Autos box. Did 110 miles in it yesterday, ran flawlessly as always.

Ironically, the gearbox within the C5 that's the subject of this thread, probably has one of the best track records going, since the 'bulletproofing' work was carried out.

Thats good to hear. How much it cost you and what was actually the reason for the visit? What parts were worn etc. Just interested. Did you get the converter uprated or did you ay extra for a even better one?
Cheers

Thats what i heard. I heard that they are not ‘swiss cheese’ boxes like some of the C6 and C7 boys like to claim and mock once they have been sorted at a decent gearbox specialist and they strength converter and replace EVERYTHING that needs replacing. I hope Chester do a good job! Its costing me 300 to get it up there! A1 did the box which i have a receipt for 2.4 but they just did not seem in the same league of chat and knowledge as say C. Autos.
The dude who does it cheap (1600 as some say) never emailed or rang me back by the way and I suspect not everything can be attempted or achieved with the box staying the car.
Anyway i when its back it will need an oil change. I will get the oil filter and pollen done and i will keep the audi service history by getting them to change the oil. Anyway can not wait to get drivjng it again soon. Im gagging.
