Goodo Panda. :). Enjoy sorting all of the paperwork etc with your yankland slushbox yourself. Not sure you will have the same level of determination that Mr. Percival had. My box hasn't destroyed itself yet so no big thing for me....

Thanks Nick

Amanda, I spoke to the chap yesterday and he will sort it out as soon as he can. He is extremely busy at the moment. If you really can't wait to find out give them a call, I am sure he will be more than happy to talk to you about it when he is free. I am abit miffed at your replies on here if I am honest. You are worried about the standard of work over them not having a chance to sit down and write out an email?

Panda is an excitable sort Ben, don't worry about it. Think of her as a demented terrier perhaps?

Panda, your car doesn't need an uprated box. Mine doesn't, and yours is slower than mine.
AMD have an excellent reputation, you've got no basis whatsoever to question it, your precious Audi dealer can't do you an uprated box and shipping it to the States is a pain in the arse. Ben has openly told you what company will be doing the upgrade, which is fair bloody play because I can't imagine other independents doing that, if you're that interested. Why not call that company and speak to them directly? When you do, how much do you know about ZF 5HP24 internals and how much will go over your head?

Ben you are the forum sponsor on this and you read the forum so therefore it is up to you to answer all questions even if some miff you. I am not questioning your work at all I just want info on the work that you are farming out to others, which I think you should be providing esp if you are offering the service and expecting to be paid for it.

Mr Footlong wrote:Amanda, just shush. THEY ARE NOT MAKING THE GEARBOX. The expert company is and he has been on their case repeatedly but they are not the type to sit down on command and write tons of stuff. Their workload is perfectly busy no doubt and we will most likely represent only a small fraction of their gearbox business so be realistic.

AmD are stupidly busy as I witnessed first hand at the weekend and based on how great Ben has been with dealing with me with the S3 and the huge emails he comes back to me with, as well as being all over other forums and dealing with counter customers, the boy is doing bloody well. Feel free to spam the gearbox company yourself perhaps??

As Ben mentioned previously, these are the guys if it helps... - http://www.auto-transmissions.co.uk/

Ohhhh don't tell me to shushhh footlong ;)
This thread doesn't really doesnt fill me with confidence on the standard of the work promised.

Panda, pull your neck in. Ben has said he'll get you some info, pour yourself a cider, spark up a ciggie and wait. Neither you nor any of us are in a position to tell Ben what he should be doing or how to do it.

I am Shaun, Bens boss.

He has told you what he is doing to get the spec from the manufacturer. That is that.

You don't need to know the spec because you won't be purchasing anything from us. I know this because I won't sell you anything.

Please don't bore me with a response as I think you obviously have too much time on your hands?

Regards Shaun Hollamby

P.S. Ben is too polite to write this so I thought that I should.

I knew it wasn't quite right when I typed it but you all know what I meant. It's a crap box anyway that was fitted to '94 A8's so probably designed in the feckin' 80's.

On the flipside to the kthxbai Panda reply, AmD have finished fettling the S3 and They (Ben especially) have been absolutely first rate in how they have dealt with me. He has taken so much time to bat across the various in-depth details to me about the S3 work and has always done his very best to accomodate me changing the posts etc during the week, have done their best to minimize costs and have been first rate for what realistically wasn't a big order for them once all the parts are factored in (a touch under 3K for everything I had done)

291/308 end result, not too shabby. Ben, ask your boss to get a move on with sorting an custom Airtec FMIC for these too and I will be first on the list for that darling. ;)

Yes me to! .........................................

I really love to see companies that are so far up their own backside that they do not answer questions from potentional customers. My word they really must be rolling in money if in a recession they can turn down work!
