I discussed it with Greg Howell, he does it a lot. He's also the guy that did all the coachwork and paint on Doug's 690BHP B5 (R)S4 MRC 'loon WB... I think it'd be in safe hands.

I just rang my guy at merityre and he told me £20 a side to remove them and £20 a side to refit them as they never provided the tyres. The reason I am now paranoid about this rims is the fact that they are not an easy colour to touch up and the local outfit to MRC that removed the tyres from my old 18" rims totally and utterly screwed them up. It took me over 2 hours with a touch up kit to make them decent enough to sell again.

I am going to email Wilwood at some point and see what they can do for me. I have specced up and fitted a kit from them before (after much grinding of bits) and it worked very well so will see what they have to say. I am going to start up another thread about brake kits. The Movit ones from QS are a total rip off in my opinion.

Have you tried speaking to Balance Motorsport? They would probably do Stoptech or Compbrake kits custom fitted too.

Thanks Nobby. I got the answering machine. Left a message asking to call me back. Bam, thanks for that, I have googled Greg and will keep him in mind. Before I went down that route though, I would have to be very precise with measurements first. The C5 calipers are quite wide, but at the closest point to them I still have over 1cm or room to spare between the spokes and the caliper. The gap between the calipers and the rim wall will also be important as there isn't lots.

I am talking to compbrake at the moment regarding brakes for my golf. Have also told them of the issues we all face. I am trying to get a c5 rs6 disc to them so they can make a bell and then we can mount 365mm or 390mm rotors to them (or anything inbetween).

i've made a few custom setups over the years, and to be fair its fairly simple if you have clearance, and something OE to go off, for a offset to work from.

Does that include the vaseline? Or do you have to pre-smear your anus beforehand?

I haven't really been through this headache but what's stopping a 390mm disc fitting without a spacer behind the bell? Is this spacer to help suspension clearance or match offset to the callipers?

Why not do this:

1. Get custom hats/bells made for correct offset on C6 callipers
2. Marry new bells to these these
3. Have new pads made for your C6 RS callipers
4. Rule 1.
5. Profit!

Anyone tried the Carbotech 'Bobcat' pads or the XP8 ones? Just realised they are dirt cheap in the US so will pick some up next week on my trip, £125 for bobcat pads, these are also suitable for autocross (which I guess is some track event), or I can get myself some XP10 ones for £165, the XP8 are around £140! Bargain. I want as much bite with the least amount of squeal. Caveman do you have XP10 or 8 pads?

I have XP10 and as mentioned previously, they're great. Also bought mine online from the states and paid about half the UK price in shipping.

I think all aggressive track pads tend to squeal, but for me it's a fair compromise for the braking performance. Not noticed excessive dust or disc wear either.

Mart.

He is running the 10's like me Amar. Are you actually sure that they have your shape pad in "off the shelf" form? Also, I would be surprised if you get all 8 pads that you need in the XP10 kit, for £165,good for you if you do. Same applies for the 8's.

Thanks for the replies guys, I haven't even looked around. I could possibly find them cheaper still. Before I order them I would call/e-mail the company to make sure they had the correct ones in stock and make sure I can get them before my flight leaves for the UK. The link for the pads is below, it certainly seems like the correct pad.
