USA-spec RS6 Avant 6-speed manual conversion

Post by asgor » Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:53 pm

Gentlemen (and Ladies), take it all with a grain of salt and a bit of humor. Also, keep in mind that the RS6 C5 Avant was never imported in the USA, so I hope you can sympathize with the excitement embedded in this effort. This being a community of enthusiasts, I imagine you will enjoy seeing how this very special car still thrives over 20 years since its release in parts of the world that it was never intended to populate.

For those not familiar with the process, importing a RS6 C5 Avant in the USA at this point requires a monumental effort that includes federalizing the car to USA standards - indeed, an effort that is fraught with unknowns and easily overwhelmed by cost.

So now that I put it all in perspective, here is a site I have assembled for those of us living on this side of the pond that aren't lucky enough to enjoy a factory-delivered car like you do. You Audi enthusiasts residing in your portion of the Western hemisphere are a lucky breed, indeed!

Here is my RS6 Avant, with the added benefit of a 6-speed conversion carried out by a specialist who is also the father of the 01E manual transmission adapter plate.

Enjoy!

I didn’t think it was even possible to import one. Kudos.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Yes, I need to address the front badge: the one currently installed isn't cutting it! Anyone out there who has a spare *correct* badge and is willing to ship?

Great photos mate. The car is simply stunning.
Many thanks for sharing.

I have road envy.
We could do with some of your roads over here. Getting sick of trying to dodge huge potholes.

Ps. I think Shoppinit is referring to the front badge positioning on the grill. Not the badge itself.

Hmm... I'll find some pics so that I can determine the exact front badge factory positioning and I'll relocate to where it needs to be.

Asgor.
Here’s mine for reference.
Touch on photo to turn it the right way up.
I think mine is in the right place. If not someone will let me know.
Looked at a few pictures of cars that are up for sale.
The badges are all in a similar position to mine.
Yours for comparison.

Your badge doesn't look genuine. Should look like Steve's.

Oh, AT have got them:

Might have to get one, if I haven't got one already somewhere. I was going to rebadge mine. It's always been debadged since I had it and I like it that way but might as well get it back to as original as possible.

Got it. The badge just needs to sit a bit lower and a touch more to the side. I'll relocate it today!

You might as well wait until you get the genuine badge.

Welcome!

Would love a manual conversion on mine but never mustered the courage to do it. Maybe one day I will start collecting parts and it will be inevitable.

Have watched all of Joel Francisco vids on YouTube but he has moved on now to v10 turbo on older Audi.

Has anyone else posted about Harp Attack by the way? He’s been sticking newer engines in older cars for a while with success.
