TA Technix Intercoolers
Hi everyone,
Well after 13 years ownership my intercoolers will most likely need looking at as one is definitely showing signs of leaking. AFAIK there is only Wagners and TA Technix available.

Thing is I can't find any mention of anyone running them so has anyone tried them? If I do fit them are they a straight swap and if I go with Wagners are they alot bigger? TIA.

Re: TA Technix Intercoolers
Those TA ones said they aren't for use in road traffic?
I did find somewhere that does rebuilds. Will go and see if I can find them again....
Here's the one I saw:

Approx £700:00
Original IC,s so no installation problems.
Great guys to deal with.
I didn’t want the car off the road. So I bought a pair of IC,s off a rs6 that was being broken for parts.
Sent them to Airtec and they exceeded all of my expectations.
3-4 weeks turnaround iirc.

OK I am 100% looking at doing that then if they did a spot on job thanks for that lead something all owners should look into.

Like Steve says Airtec do a brilliant job and are highly recommended.
However, with these engines (BCY/BRV) being so confined in the engine bay that it’s not uncommon to see a difference of 20°C between intercooler out and actual IAT. That kind of difference saps performance from these engines. That’s where the Wagner’s are king, flowing almost twice as much air compared to standard and an increase of 39% intercooler face area. If you are boosted I strongly recommend the Wagner kit
but you’ll pay double for them compared to rebuilds, but also you’ll get silicone hoses
Had my Wagners 5 years and no complaints.

Re: TA Technix Intercoolers
I will have my RED silicone hose for sale soon. As I’m changing to full metal pipes & V-band clamps.

Re: TA Technix Intercoolers
I have these. They are nice - good and solid. Only thing is if you have Wagner intercoolers, ask him to make the lower hoses slightly longer, the Wagners need a very slightly longer hose.steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 1:47 pmIMG_0822.png

Re: TA Technix Intercoolers
That’s a really good point as the Wagners are thicker and have a different end tank. I may need some bottom hoses soon, I was a bit too low for a whileMɐʇʇ wrote:I have these. Re: TA Technix Intercoolers
Wagners don’t have anything on my custom intercoolers
These have bell cores and are rated upto around 1200hp-ish
They are thicker, taller & wider

You are right they were the gen 1’s although my new ones are still bigger than the Wagner comp intercoolers.TOPMAN wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 10:06 amHi WesSxcarmyboi wrote:Wagners don’t have anything on my custom intercoolers![]()

They are thicker, taller & widerWhat Wagner intercooler is that in your photo? It doesn’t look like a Gen.2 so maybe older Gen.1? Mine are Gen.2 Competition spec, so noticeably thicker and closer to what you have. You do realise we’ve turned this post into some kind of dick waving exercise

In all honesty though any intercooler (even record by airtec) will be noticeable better than the original standard ones. Just due to core development and progress over the years. From when they was made to no days.

Re: TA Technix Intercoolers
has anyone come up with a smart solution for the fog-delete larger grill?
the WE screw isn't something i could bring myself to do.
i was at a random dutch audi meet today. the other C5 had them and i can't come round the the installation. i'm running the no-grill at the moment. not sure i like the look

Them grills just look like they haven’t been fitted right. As mine look nothing like that, fitted to my bumper.
