I've also just got this back on the road. Was parked up on the drive for a couple of years without moving. Covid, life, kids and a myriad of other things got in the way.
But I decided either we move it on, in which case make it roadworthy, or use it, in which case, make it roadworthy.

No word of a lie, 2 years parked up outside, I replaced one headlamp (it was full of water), one brake light, pumped the tyres up, took it for a drive to get the rust off the disks - and it passed an MOT with just one advisory saying the front tyres have cracked a bit. Happy with that.

This is my other toy, it’s a Mini Thirty with a 1275 that made a whole 60.2bhp 76.2lbft which is spot on for its spec. It’s a cool car to own who doesn’t love a Mini and the best bit is parts are soooooo easy to get and cheap not like our Rs6’s !!!!

Oh and I nearly forgot about this little gem that’s been in my been family from new 1969 and I restored it in 2014. It’s great fun pulling up at the lights and people do a double take

I could never get enthusiastic about Minis because I can't fit in one. Otherwise I do feel nostalgic when I see one.

My first car was a 1978 1098cc Clubman Saloon. I did a fair bit of work on it, mostly very shoddy jobs, but I learnt a lot, so it was all good.
Perhaps my favourite mod was I saw in a magazine someone did a 4 headlamp conversion on the clubman front end - and charge a lot of money for the grille for it. Being a brassic student, I got 2 clubman grilles from the breakers yard and very carefull cut them into sections to make a 4 headlight grille that looked pretty good.

It was all good, until the extra load of the 2nd pair of headlamps on main beam burnt out the headlight switch on an unlit backroad in the middle of cornwall one day. I jury rigged it to get home with a paper clip - that was glowing red hot all the way. I put a relay in it after that.

I never felt like it was a small car back then - I was quite happy with it - but my buddy still has one and when I climbed into it the other day, it felt very cramped.
I've certainly not got any taller though.

I'm not sure I'd call them cheap any more though. My one cost me 100 quid "back in the day", my mate has been offered 5K for his one and it's not even in that great nick.

This is lovely. How full on did you need to go on the restoration - was it a full nut & bolt job, or largely cosmetic?

This is my true love, a Nissan 300zx with a manual box from factory. There’s only around 150 left now with fewer than 30 being manual.

She’s undergoing some major modification at the moment to bring her up to date;
all new late spec harness, Nismo 740cc injectors, forged internal, record turbos, larger IC, late spec PTU, new late spec gearbox, powder coating all front end components.

While this is going on I’ve had the car sent out for a change of colour under the hood to Aston Martin White Morning Frost (I’ve always wanted a white UK 300). I do intend to do the body the same colour however I simply can’t afford that this year. She’s a keeper (all my cars are now as I promised myself this year that I’ll never sell another car) so I’ve got plenty of time.

Wow. An S2. Haven't seen one of those for ages. Friend of mine had one with an RS2 engine, highly tuned. The turbo boost was a cliff edge and giggles were involuntary.

Something a little different to your lovely Landies, this is my little weekend toy and its been in the family since October 2000!! Gets quite a lot of attention and I still love driving it!

That's lovely. To me, this is "the" real Audi. I think our C5 RS6's are still decent, but very very different cars and worlds apart in terms of being a different company these days.
Back then, IMVHO, it was about quality. Nowadays it is about the appearance of quality.

Thank you I would love a c5 but think I have left it too late now. Was after one for ages but decided to get best of both worlds and got an A6 3L biturbo saloon and it’s amazing bit of kit. Love it but I feel the need for a v8 lol!!!

My friend had a 200sx in the mid 90's and I remember telling him him he'd bought the wrong one as a 300zx overtook us going really very quickly on the A27 between havant and chichester. And bearing in mind we were young and stupid then - he'd regularly be doing 110+ down that stretch.

He then "upgraded" to BMW 535i, but drove that with no less flourish - I remember going round one of the A27 roundabouts towing our sailing dinghy to a race we were late for - the boat, on it's trailer, was going sideways round the roundabout - you're not supposed to be able to see the trailer in the NS wing mirror as you round a roundabout.

Those were the days, not a care in the world.

Brilliant. I had a s13 200sx back in, I think, “99-2000. It wasn’t a blue one by any chance, I brought it from a guy in Southampton. Mine had clearly been ragged as it burnt 3 valves on the way home due to increased boost pressure with no protection and I had to rebuild the top end.

No, Pete's was a 1991 200SX in white. That he had crasehd massively within a month of buying it and had virtually panel replaced on. Wings, bumpers, doors and so forth.

I was with him a few years later when he traded it in and the salesman spotted a mask line in the gutter of the roof. Salesman says "oh, has the roof been repainted, I can see a mask line there".

"Not since I've owned it" was Pete's response.
The truth was every other panel had been painted - it was only the roof that hadn't!
We laughed like drains on the way home. In fairness, it was a proper repair job done well. But the sales guy asked the wrong question.

And the 300ZX was a 1989 one in white, IIRC.
