For me these cars are just perfect in every way.
Even though they can wind you up at times.
And this gentleman is a perfect example of a c5 rs6 owner! 5 years and 2 engine pulls in and mine still puts a huge grin on my face and feels like a “event” when I drive it.

Jayjay. I think it’s called obsessive compulsive disorder.
Nice to know I am not on my own. I think there are lots of us on this forum.
Although I moan about mine From time to time. I feel I am very fortunate as all of my problems are minuscule compared to some of the problems fellow members have experienced
Mine has never failed to get me where I want to go. And most importantly back home again.
I have heard and read some horrific failures on here. It just installs in me how fortunate I am.
Oldest car I have ever owned
Highest mileage car I have ever owned
Most expensive to maintain I have ever had
Would I swop it (almost did for a DB9)
Not a chance.
Best car I have ever owned.ever ever ever

Problem is driving any other car is a massive disappointment. So I only drive the RS6. Meaning I have to keep “Christine “ in tip top condition for as long as possible.
Hopefully she will see me out.

It's people like you lot who contributed to me buying one, the fact many people have owned them for a long time made me think it's worth the potential pain of whatever failure may occur.

The previous owner of mine had had it for 5 years and was a mechanic by trade. He traded it in for a C6 RS6. I had thought about the C6 but it just doesn't get me excited as much as the C5. I've owned 3 x C5's previously - 2 x 2.8 Quattros and a 2.5tdi Quattro. I loved them but always wanted more power/ presence. The RS6 ticks all of the boxes and it's hard to think of what car I'd replace it with.

Matty. Has yours had a remap.
Mine was done b4 I bought it. So I have never driven a standard example.
Remapped they are amazing. I was told it was running at 530 bhp. When I converted the graph from Mrc I came up with 518 bhp.
Still more than enough for a old timer ?

Check your cctv again.
Then smile and remind yourself that it is yours.

Lol. Long drive sounds good. Sleep in it maybe a bit too far.
Hopefully you will be reunited very soon.

Really not sure if it's been mapped but it feels just as quick as my brother in laws M4 that's mapped to 500bhp.

Just got back from a 100 mile round trip to Nottingham to see Ricky Gervais - good show by the way - managed to bag a family space in the multi storey. It looked amazing parked up, definitely the best looking and sounding car in the building.

Now I've had a decent drive in it I'll scan it tomorrow and see what's what.

Had to fill up again, that £50 got me 140 miles - put £98 in this time and still not full. It did say 450 miles on the range - if only...

450? Wow, I've only ever seen my range at 365 after a full brim. Like you say though - if only :|

Lol. 450 miles. Have you looked under the bonnet. I think someone has removed the V8 and put a diesel motor in its place. As above 350-360 for a full tank sounds about right.

I've seen 450. It was after a long steady journey I think. That's 25 mpg with 18 gallons. It's possible if you are doing a steady cruise. Instant read out can be nearly 30 mpg at some odd specific speeds.

Oh yes, I've seen over 30 mpg showing on the instant on many occasions - also 6 mpg too many times...

Yeah I was keeping it at a constant 70mph, the average went from 19 to 24.4 mpg. It reckons I was doing 29mpg on the long run.

Just rescanned after the 100 mile trip yesterday.

These faults came up:

Anyone come across these before?

Also does anyone know if it's possible to configure auto locking over a certain speed and also for the footwell lights to stay illuminated when the lights are on?

Thanks in advance :D

The air quality sensor sits in the cabin air intake and activates recirculation when it detects elevated levels of fumes. They are very weak and have short lives. You can safely ignore it if you want to.

Your SAI problem is probably the pump that’s failed given that it’s both banks and you don’t have mixture problems (or at least not showing yet). They tend to fill with water and corrode and then seize.

You can easily turn auto lock on with VCDS. It won’t lock if there’s a fault present with any of the door switches.
