Can’t source a radiator!

Post by Doofuss » Thu Jul 16, 2020 12:04 am

Hi guys,

My radiator has gone on my 04 RS6 saloon, and I’m struggling so much to find one! I’ve got the old one off and taken some photos.

The part number I need is 4B3121251F which is on b/o at Audi and also, over a grand!

Tried to get mine refurbished but no joy there either.

It’s got the extra pipe for what I believe is the auxiliary cooling.

If anyone could help me track one down, I would much appreciate it.

Many thanks :-)

The extra pipe is for the afterrun pump. You can change the plumbing so that it circulates like the early 2003 cars and always let your turbos cool down to 90 degrees which you should be doing *anyway*.

Has anyone tried someone like Serck Motorsport to have a custom rad built? At a grand a pop now, I can't imagine a custom would cost that much more.

Is changing the plumbing difficult to do do you know?

I’ve not heard of Serck Motorsport before, take it this is them.....

https://www.serckmotorsport.co.uk/faq

I might drop them a email, see what they can do.

I know some parts are becoming harder to find, but this is the first time I’ve not been able to source the correct part!

Thanks guys :-)

Same problem here. Pro alloy uk are prepared to look at this problem. But they don’t have a pattern. If yours is out maybe they can sort it.
I would also be interested in a solution.

Madi has a non OE rad for sale in parts section. Have been messaging him about it.
Your need greater than mine.
Message him and see what’s what.

I’ve had a pro alloy rad for another car and it was a quality product (it might have even come with a lifetime warranty on construction).
I’m happy to try and source a used unit that they can take measurement from.

Yep that is Serck, they are good guys. I had a couple of rads made for a single seater and they were good quality and done on time for sensible money. Saying that I've used Pro Alloy with excellent results too. I have a 'to avoid' list of fabricators too!

Would it be sensible to start a group buy on radiators as well?! I wonder if Serck could do intercoolers too?

Yeah they could do ics, so could pro alloy. I wish I had gone with either of them rather than Pace Products for the cores for mine.

Do it. 👍
It might pay to speak to MRC and Unit20, asking if they would be interested in holding stock which would be a good boost to the number of pre orders.
Also trying to speck it as an upgrade rather than a like for like copy may help preorders.
I’d be interested in one but would need to check which rad I currently have before confirming (can the difference be seen without taking the bumper off?)

From what I remember the extra cooling loop can be found on the back side of the rad on the n/s so you may have too take one of the silver air ducts out too be able too see it . It’ll be tucked under the front panel so you can’t see it easily however it does run from top too bottom . I have this rad in mine however I don’t have the aux rads behide the ic’s
