Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
I've been keeping an eye out for Plus's getting sold/up for sale over the past few months on all the usual sites (P'heads, Autotrader, eBay), but I've either missed them or there haven't been any. Just wanted to get an idea for current pricing. If anybody has seen any and can give me a pointer to asking/sold price and rough spec (mileage/colour) it would be much appreciated.
Re: Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
There was a blue one last October located in London.
113k, standard, reportedly excellent condition with FSH and belts in date with a gearbox rebuild just before 100k.
Owner had just bought an R8 so couldn’t afford both. It was up for 18.5k and was sold before I could even arrange a viewing. Not sure what it went for in the end though.

Great, thanks Ben - that's a good starting point.
Does the speed of sale reflect latent demand for +'s - there don't seem to be many coming up for sale?
Cheers.

Quentin Willson wrote an article on C5 RS6 Avant's in the Jan 2018 edition of Classic Cars.
His view is that the starting point for RS6 Plus Avants is at least £20k.
You may be able to order a back copy or find one on eBay.

Re: Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
Is it really worth paying extra for the plus models?
Re: Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
If they're worth 40k in 5 years then probably.

Re: Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
I'd love to try get a copy - my Mum is coming over from the UK to visit, so I'll see if I can find someone to order from. Anyone used magsdirect.co.uk? It looks like the "recommended" site when following Classic Cars site to order, doesn't display January 2018.
2004 Audi RS6 Avant Plus #283
Re: Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
Thanks Bishbosh, good heads-up, I'll try and hunt one down.

Quick google trawl found this - not sure if it's the text from the article, but you get the gist.

While ‘normal’ 2002 to 2004 RS6 Avants can be bought for £10-£15k, a genuine factory Plus is worth an easy £20,000.
A private Yorkshireman has just sold a lovely 2004 in black with 48,000 miles and eight stamps in the book for a very low £13,995 and I’m thinking he can’t have known what he was selling. Prices and desirability have stayed very strong and as far back as 2014 Historics managed to secure £14k for a silver 86,000- miler – which shows just how cheap that Yorkshire car was.
As one of the rarest and most collectible Audis it’s worth checking all ads for #2004 RS6 Avants and looking for the distinctive black exhausts and roof rails just in case another bargain Plus slips through your fingers. All RS6s need converting to coil-over suspension because the original factory-specified gas shocks don’t last long and the five-speed #Tiptronic-ZF gearbox regularly fails too. #ZF said it needed regular oil and filter changes but Audi told owners it was sealed for life. Bills for gearbox oil changes are a good sign but if not, check the box works properly when it’s fully hot because torque converter issues and sludgedup valve bodies are common.
Find a cherished RS6 or RS6 Plus Avant and you’ll own a classic Audi legend that can only grow in both value and stature.

Bollocks!!All RS6s need converting to coil-over suspension because the original factory-specified gas shocks don’t last long

Frankly if that's the quality of the article then I wouldn't bother!
Re: Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
I haven't checked recently (can't be bothered), but when I did about three years ago approx 30% were on coilies.
Anybody got time to do a trawl through Autotrader to check?? Be very surprised if it was up at 99%!!

Re: Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
When I was in the market late last year I found 2/3 cars for sale were on coilovers.
I think it’s so well documented to replace the DRC on the net, particularly buyers guides, most people install them on assumptions.

Re: Anyone seen any +'s for sale/sold
I can help you there as I bought mine a month ago. And I can categorically say I didn't look at a single car that wasn't on Coilovers. My search was for cars that were less than 12k and I looked at everything within 150 miles of me. All of them without exception....
